Have you heard McCain's sexist "joke" yet?
I posted this on another thread about McCain, but I want more people to see it. Another DUer helped me to remember it, and maybe some of you remember it as well. McCain told it during the Clinton administration, I believe, so it was several years ago.

Here goes: Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Pause for the extremely "witty" punchline: Because her father is Janet Reno.

Kind of makes you feel warm all over, doesn't it? Now can we finally stop hearing about how upfront and straightalking McCain is?

26. Yes, kestrel, you and I have the same opinion. Hillary was no prize
either with thick glasses and frizzy hair. Some of the early photos of her and Bill make you do a "who's that?" if you don't know her physical history. I know there's a heck of a lot of work done on her to keep her looking good -- and I think she does look good!

The best picture of her I could find was at the site of a Ph. D. who studied her palm to understand her future. Freaky and unbelievable stuff on the Internet... don't believe a word of his opinions!

4. That was very cruel what he said about Chelsea!
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 07:53 PM by KalicoKitty
McCain is wishy-washy.

McCain disagreed strongly with the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, yet he still supported Bush, and that makes McCain a hypocrite! McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry's military service "dishonest and dishonorable" and urged the White House to condemn it as well. 'It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me,' McCain said in an interview with The Associated Press, referring to his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush'.”

McCain ran around the country criticizing the Bush Boy and getting all that undeserved publicity for himself as an independently minded Republican and then McCain voted with Bush every damn time on every single issue! That’s every single vote in favor of the Bush crooks for the last four and a half years!

McCain bills himself to the public as the Republican even a Democrat can love. It’s all asinine republican bait-and-switch politics with McCain playing Bush’s perfect foil.

McCain is lucky he didn’t go to jail from his direct involvement the S & L scandal, that ugly Keating 5 situation in Arizona back in the 1980s!

Remember the smear campaign against John McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 presidential primary? McCain had racked up a 19-point win over George W. Bush.

What followed was a primary campaign that would make history for its negativity.

In South Carolina, Bush Republicans were facing an opponent who was popular for his straight talk and Vietnam war record. They knew that if McCain won in South Carolina, he would likely win the nomination. With few substantive differences between Bush and McCain, the campaign was bound to turn personal. The situation was ripe for a smear. It didn't take much research to turn up a seemingly innocuous fact about the McCains: John and his wife, Cindy, have an adopted daughter named Bridget. Cindy found Bridget at Mother Theresa's orphanage in Bangladesh, brought her to the United States for medical treatment, and the family ultimately adopted her. Bridget has dark skin.

Anonymous opponents used "push polling" to suggest that McCain's Bangladeshi born daughter was his own, illegitimate black child. In push polling, a voter gets a call, ostensibly from a polling company, asking which candidate the voter supports. In this case, if the "pollster" determined that the person was a McCain supporter, he made statements designed to create doubt about the senator.

Thus, the "pollsters" asked McCain supporters if they would be more or less likely to vote for McCain if they knew he had fathered an illegitimate child who was black. In the conservative, race-conscious South, that's not a minor charge. We had no idea who made the phone calls, who paid for them, or how many calls were made. Effective and anonymous: the perfect smear campaign.

Some aspects of this smear were hardly so subtle. Bob Jones University professor Richard Hand sent an e-mail to "fellow South Carolinians" stating that McCain had "chosen to sire children without marriage." It didn't take long for mainstream media to carry the charge. CNN interviewed Hand and put him on the spot: "Professor, you say that this man had children out of wedlock. He did not have children out of wedlock." Hand replied, "Wait a minute, that's a universal negative. Can you prove that there aren't any?"

I thought McCain sucked up to Bush to get selected for a job in his cabinet to take over either Dumsfeld’s or Colon’s job.

Did you see that photo of McCain letting Bush kiss him on his head? I wanted to puke when I saw it.

entire SC smear/whisper campaign (saurove's signature) and then mccain goes on Sunday morning talktv and DEFENDS him, is beyond being generous. I can only think he inherited Barry G's ghost and is defending the krooks cuz they're all rethugs.

But in the end it was Barry who called tricky dick & told him it was time 2 go; all the rats were off the ship.

Remember * went after McCain's adopted daughter by claiming that she was the product of an interracial sexual encounter?

Karma blow-back.

Both men were wrong, but I can only hope that McCain felt the sting of indignation that he imparted to the Clintons with his cruel idea of humor.

I don't expect anything to happen with * and karma. He's the Chauncey Gardiner of our times (allusion to "Being There").

That must have been an awful few years, what with her father's sex life splashed on every newspaper cover in the country, not to mention those awkward years. It makes me sick to think about the cruel remarks that supposedly mature adults (among them, elected officials) said about her.
