06 strategy point ........ a question
If Bush were the focus of the 06 elections, he'd be in damned deep doo doo.

But he's not.

Lots of lesser republicans are. The midterms. Every rep and some senators. Also lots of local stuff.

How can we effectively tie every one of them to the multiple slime streams in Washington right now?

2. Shouldn't be hard to link my Senators and Congressmen
Seeing as I live in the state where most of the slimeballs came from... Texas.... but wether the blindly devoted's numbers can be beat, remains to be seen.... I am SOOO anxious to take down Hutchison.

3. Isn't Hutchinson
running for Guv. If she's running for re-election I don't honestly think we can beat her. I remember seeing a poll where she gets 60% against Good Hair. I can only imagine what it would be if she was put up against some Dem. BY the way if Hutchinson does retire, what are our chaces of winning that seat

7. Ron Kirk got a
Respectable 43% in 2002. If we put up a good candidate like Martin Frost, I think we'd have a shot at pulling off the upset

8. martin frost couldn't even keep his house seat...
albeit delay redistricted it...

when was the last time a Democrat represented TX in the Senate?

It has to be a couple of decades....

might as well spend precious resources on competitive seats...

10. Yup Betnsen
retired about twelve years ago. I'm not saying its likely and obviously the Republican in the race will have a huge advantage, but if the Republicans put up a weak candidate or have a divisive primary, I think someone like Frost could pull off the upset.

12. I'm Not A Big Hutchinson Fan
but i will give her props for not pooping on Hillary Clinton...

the republicans asked her to campaign against hrc in 00 and she refused on the grounds that there aren't enough women in the senate ...

and she's better than than john cornyn and ric perry...

you probably know tx politics better than me but tx is a lost cause along with most of the south...

it's sad but true....

13. Oh Believe me
I don't know Texas poltics better than you. I live in Wisconsin for God's sake. As for Tx being a lost cause I think in terms of Presidential Elections your probably right, but I think we can still elect House or Senate candidates from those states. Look at ND for example. This is a state where Bush got 63% in the GE, but they have 2 Democratic Senators with extremely high approval ratings and there only House member is also a Democrat

14. we better get a house seat from tx
they must have about thirty or so house seats...

yeah, there are red states with blue senators and vice versa but i don't think the south is fertile ground to pick up seats...

that's our dilemma....

how do we recapture the house and senate if we are not competitive in one of the fastest growing regions in the country...

with every census this imbalance will grow as more electoral college votes and house seats go to the south..

15. Don't write off TX yet.
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 09:25 AM by cosmik debris
Remember Dallas County elected an out-of-the-closet-Lesbian Sheriff and Crawford TX has a Dem. Rep. Chet Edwards! We are not the Hell-Hole of narrow minds that the stereotype projects. It is just a case of temporary insanity. Cut us some slack!

16. I Guess...
TX isn't as bad as Alabama or Mississippi...

Ideologically it seems close to Florida but I think Florida is more of a swing state but a swing state that leans red...

17. Molly Ivins calls Tx
Mississippi with good roads.
Mississippi is number one in teen Pregnancy, Texas is number two.
Mississippi has slightly lower SAT scores, but a lower drop out rate.
The big difference is that I see hope for Texas, but Mississippi is lost until they realize that the Civil War really is over.

21. I've been making this point for years.
Rank the Red states & Blue states for these studies. SATs, school drop-outs, teen pregnancy rates, literacy rates, etc. (And note that the Purple states are usually nestled right in the middle.) Then tell me there isn't a trend.

The question we should pose to swing voters: "in which direction do you want to take your state?"

We can say it aloud: Yes, we're Democrats, and YES - we do know better than them.

We did all this, we won the race to the bottom with only 12 years of Republican leadership!"

4. Voting records of course. Nail them on their opinions of DSM,
Rove and the leak, any dirt from the WH we can possibly force their opinion on.

6. we need to tie each of them closely to the administration.
Most are going to be doing all they can to distance themselves from the WH.

We need to pound on every dinner invite, every lobbyist, every encounter with Karl Rove, every pResidential photo op. Link them inextricably to W.

Remember that Tom DeLay site that was up a few months ago that tied every Republican Rep and Senator to DeLay?

I can see something like that happening.

11. Referendum on impeachment
Ask every house candidate if he/she Will vote for impeachment of war criminals and those who cover up for traitorous felons on the white house staff.

Ask ever senate candidate if they will vote to convict war criminals. . .

Put them on the spot!

18. Good idea, but this is politics, so it needs to be couched in neutral
language, but drawn directly from the DSM evidence and the criminal investigation of Rove, et al.

19. 2006
We must run on the platform the Republicans control everything, and
If you don't like how things are vote Democrat to change things
since we are the party of reform. Show we are the true big tent
party since our leader In the Senate Is pro life, and the Republicans
have no pro choice leaders. Hit Rove,Delay, and Sciavo over their
heads. And on Texas we should make efforts there. Perry Is unpopular
so there Is a slim chance there, and work on getting congressional
seats.
