Day Three of “Rovergate” and I must say I’m impressed with the media!
So far these past three days, the Corporate Media has resembled the ol' Fourth Estate I remember from Watergate and Iran-Contra eras. At least when it comes to grilling and drilling the White House Press Secretary anyway.

Some on DU have suggested the aggressive, take-no-prisoners attitude on part of the White House reporters is due to that fact that one of their own was sent to prison by the very administration they were cheerleading and whoring for. Perhaps, to paraphrase that old saying, “Hell hath no fury like a White House reporter scorned!” So let’s look at the record, shall we, and see how the Corporate Media responded to all the sleaze and scandals that has occurred since 2000:

Gore initially declared winner, however, George’s first cousin calls Florida for Bush! :boring:

Bush goes to Supreme Court to stop recount! :boring:

George’s brother assists with voter disenfranchisement in Florida! :boring:

Florida Secretary of State and Florida Bush/Cheney Election Committee chair certifies Florida for Bush, although Gore won Florida!:boring:

Bush ignores 9/11 warnings! :boring:

Bush sits and does nothing on 9/11 after being told US is under attack! :boring:

Bush flies around for three days after 9/11 “getting out of harm’s way!” :boring:

75% of 9/11 terrorists hold Saudi Arabian passports! :boring:

Bin Laden family and Bush family have been business partners for decades! :boring:

Bush flies bin Laden relatives out of US before FBI can question them! :boring:

Bush accuses Saddam Hussein of crimes against humanity occurring 14 years earlier! :boring:

Although 15 of the 19 highjackers were from Saudi Arabia, Bush invades Iraq, even though no terrorist was from that country! :boring:

Bush invades Iraq with lies of WMDs! :boring:

Bush blocks attempts to investigate 9/11! :boring:

Bush refuses to testify under oath before 9/11 commission! :boring:

Bush answers 9/11 Commission questions only behind closed doors and with Dick Cheney with him! :boring:

Bush doesn’t finish TANG obligation, appears to have deserted! :boring:

Sex for hire website owner using alias discovered posing as White House Press Corps. reporter! :boring:

Bush appears to have been wired to receive answers for debates with John Kerry! :boring:

Bush loses all three debates for Election2004! :boring:

Diebold CEO O’Dell states publicly that Diebold will deliver votes to Republicans! :boring:

Ohio Secretary of State and Ohio Bush/Cheney Re-election Committee chair certifies Ohio for Bush! :boring:

Exit polls and “official electronic voting” do not coincide in Election2004! :boring:

Thousands of incidents of election fraud in Ohio and elsewhere during Election2004! :boring:

Downing Street Minutes shows Bush fixed intelligence around desire to invade Iraq! :boring:

Downing Street Minutes demonstrates Bush lied in 2003 State of the Union Address! :boring:

Over 1700 US troops killed in Iraq Quagmire based on lies! :boring:

Over 100,000 Iraqis killed in Iraq Quagmire based on lies! :boring:

Billions of dollars missing from Pentagon/Iraq War budget! :boring:

Bush wants John Bolton for US Ambassador to UN! :boring:

Bush White House compromises American intelligence by publicly revealing CIA operative! :boring:

New York Times reporter Judith Miller sent to prison for refusing to answer questions about her involvement in a crime! :grr:

I made this list off the top of my head and might have left out a scandal or two. Anyway, I hope the Fourth Estate continues its aggressive pursuit for the truth like it has these past three days.

We can only hope!

13. now they need to grow legs, crawl out of the dark primorial ocean & evolve
the heaving mass of media is still spineless, though, and still floating around in the dank dark primorial ooze of ignorance. Maybe they will grow spines and learn to walk erect on land as man again, but probably not.

I wish the entire press corps would read your post and feel like the shit bags they have become.

They have a lot of catching up to do. I won't heap any press on these cretins until they have really started to undo the damage they have allowed to be wreaked on this country

5. Thank you. I am saving this.
You have stated so simply and in a way that really, truly pointed out just how absurd a time it is in the U.S. exactly why I have been do crazy since 12/12/2000. Yes, all of those things really did happen and every one of them should have been a major scandal. Also Enron and the energy task force. What else? the air quality lies at Ground Zero, Fixing environmental reports. Surplus to deficit.

The fact that he is a complete buffon at his press conferences and clearly has only a surface grasp on anything he talks about should have been discussed constantly. When this wasn't happening during election 2000 I realized that TV people lie. Very sad.

14. I would carefully distinguish between "the reporters" and "the media"
On the one hand, the reporters are drooling at a chance to bring the hammer down on one the man who likely enforces the ass-kissing at press conferences. Finally, after 5 years of getting blackmailed and pressured from KKKarl, its his turn to squirm in the spotlight.

On the other hand, the publishers and broadcasters have a much different outlook, and they're trying to downplay it. Singing unchallenged mantras like "Rove broke no laws", "Joe Wilson's a liar", "Democrats are engaged in a smear campaign", it's pretty clear on which side they're coming down. And who can blame them? bush has done more to fatten the wallets of the rich media-mogul corporatists than any president since... well, since Clinton. But for different reasons, reasons that make them feel better about their nasty arrogant selves.

16. I wouldn't say I'm impressed with the media
But a handfull of reporters... eh, mildly impressed, but moreso surprised that they finally grew some balls.

Where the hell have they been?

On second thought... I'm not impressed at all... your post clearly shows they are self-serving (only growing some when a fellow reporter pays the price for Rove's criminal behavior).

What, it's ok that Rove is a criminal, just not when he causes a reporter to suffer? WTF?!?!

job, or did he just blow it? anyway I would think this fellow would have enough sense to duck for cover.http://www.jeffgannon.com
Jeff Gannon - :yoiks:A Voice of the New Media - a freeper dude just quoted him on OLS - a freep who is insanely obsessed with talking about BJs -when it applies to the distance past-and is totally homophobic yet he quotes this guy- go figure- no don't even bother.

So G/G is hot on the tail of how Joe and Val outed themselves and lied about everything. Unbelievable how low these BU**SH**INc. scum suckers will stoop.

"Sex for hire website owner using alias discovered posing as White House Press Corps. reporter! " maybe they will take a second look I hope, and into much more.....

so clear and simple

Guess I'll just have to bookmark this and recommend.

kudos!

Oh and here's another one: Day one of his pResidency in 2000, he signs the Global Gag Rule, sentencing millions of women worldwide to hideous death, forced pregnancy, no healthcare. Media snoozes.

Here's another, billions of Federal$$ committed to Abstinence Programs, a religious ideological program proven to be false and dangerous by numerous medical organizations.

and another: Lies to AARP and bogus smearing of Canada's drug safety standards in the service of cutting a deal boosting US pharmaceutical interests (profit$). (see? I can't remember succinct details , darn it)

tabulate the vote with secret, proprietary software, with no paper trail in a third of the country, and pronounce Bush the winner in '04.
