Sens. Santorum, Clinton trade child-rearing barbs
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05193/536732.stm

<snip>

Clinton has kept mum on Santorum's book, until today, when the two senators passed each other in the basement of the Capitol.

"It takes a village, Rick, don't forget that," Clinton called out.

"It takes a family," he countered.

"Of course, a family is part of a village!" she replied.

The two continued on in opposite directions.

1. How many families fail in raising their children on their own and...
how many families do a better job because of the resources within the village?

3. given his theft of PA tax dollars for his children
Perhaps he should have called his book "It takes two villages."

5. In Sphinctorum's case............
it takes the State of Pennsylvania's taxpayer dollars to raise his kids. He owns a (very) small home in Pennsylvania just to meet the requirements for their education purposes. His real residence remains in Virginia where the educational scene isn't as good as in Pennsylvania. He's nothing but a carpet-bagger ripping off the good people of Pennsylvania.
And I sincerely pity his children. With a father like that they can look forward to many years on a Psychiatrist's couch erasing the harm he's done.

9. Some people have no clue
As a mother I know EXACTLY what Hillary means.

1. Had a neighbor who volunteered to sit with my colicky infant daughter so I would get out for an hour or two to keep my sanity. I had NO FAMILY in the area.

2. To the numerous times when I was a stay at home Mom and I would take neighbor's kids in when their parents got stuck at work.

3. Drove these same kids to "emergency" soccer practices.

4. To the local store owners who posted on their windows that their proprietorships were a "safe haven" for the children when there was a sexual predator in the neighborhood following young girls home from school.

5. To the home owners who formed a citizens patrol watch in that same case.

Ok. These are just some instances of what Hillary means by it "Takes a Village"

12. Republicanism: fuck other people
Immediate family is as far as they can look away from themselves.

The myth of the nuclear family is ridiculous; it was a creation of the late 19th and 20th centuries. Before that, there were extended families and clans that interdepended. Their were maiden aunts and weirdo gay uncles and all sorts of other types who had a home in an extended family and were of service to the rest. The homey little Leave It to Beaver world is a very new standard in human civilization, and it simply doesn't accommodate much of mankind.

Santorum certainly is an oddball, and I hope he gets his marching papers in the next election.
