turned to the Chris Matthew's show - boy was that a mistake
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 09:22 AM by choie
I was channel surfing when I happened upon the chris matthews show on nbc. OF course they were talking about the bombing in London and I came in on Michael Duffy of Time Magazine, who was opining that happened was proof that Bush's views about terrorism is correct. He went on to say that, as in his last speech, whenever Bush talks about terrorism his numbers go up because people trust him on this issue. He continued to almost scoff at the other G8 members, including Blair, who wanted to focus on poverty in Africa, etc., instead of the most important world issue - terrorism.

okay, am I wrong? Didn't Bush's last speech fail miserably? Am I wrong? Isn't the London bombing proof that the war in Iraq has done NOTHING to make us safer and that Al Quaeda is alive and well? WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE PUNDITS SMOKING????????:wtf:

... speak, and morons believe them. The only problem is that that there are lots of morons around. The problem for the administration is that you can only fool even morons for so long.

6. What happened in London shows the failure of Bush's policies,
which have increased the number of terrorists instead of decreasing them.

8. You are missing the big picture.
A lot is being done regarding terrorism. Just look at how many more of them there are now compared to the year 2000. Somebody has been very busy.

9. Duh!
The war in Iraq is doing nothing to curb terrorism as we can see by the bombings in London. Hell, we had terrorism before Iraq, remember the first Trade Center bombing, the USS Cole, Lebonon, the Pan-American flight 103? Bin Laden has been an important terrorism financier since 1979, so to think an unjust war is going to stop al qaeda is just plain dumb.

I deleted all the cable news channels from my tv tuner, so that when I scroll throught channels, I don't accidently hear any of the stupid crap they broadcast.

15. They're just dolts

Rasmussen isn't seeing any kind of Bush numbers going up as a result, and Rasmussen is where to look for any right wing media barrage paying off. Disapproval of Bush softened a bit in a politically meaningless way over the July 4 weekend, people taking their minds off politics I suppose.

I've decided journalists cannot read polls intelligently and are mostly about telling people what they want to hear, and have zero ability to discern political trends. They're all being led by whatever "sources" they choose. Seeing a reporter actually change his/her mind on air always reminds me of puppies getting their noses shoved in their poop when they've shat where they're not allowed to. They're so strangely innocent and unsophisticated, and so predictably wrong so often, particularly the old hands.
