5. Personally
I beleieve he lied but even if he "didn't" the question to Shay's should be Mr Bush has had a history dating back to his youth of making bad decisions How can you support someone who has consistently made bad decisions over the course of his lifetime?

20. the repiglicans support their designated leader
uniformly with no questions asked. It has to do with a perpetual feeling of abandonment by their real fathers so they compensate by clinging to the designated father figure with white knuckles regardless of his/her merit.

They would've marched off a cliff following Quayle if he had succeeded Bush-the-1st. Clearly merit is not a criteria they apply before they pledge allegiance.

6. There is ample proof..
.... that Bush** (and Powell) said things that they knew had already been proven to be false.

I don't know what alternate universe Shays lives in, but in the one I live it that is called lying.

Oh, and it is the kind of lie that rises well above one about their own personal sex life.

7. Either Way, He Should Step Down, Grossly Negligent is Just As Bad

This was not a close call. Bush should have done more to be sure about WMD. The facts show he failed to use common sense, prudent, careful assessments. He did not approach this from the standpoint of a careful assessment. He charged ahead, bullied people and torched anyone (even his own staff) who dare question him.

No, sorry, not buying it.

Either he intentionally lied, or he was so grossly negligent because the information showing he was wrong was capable of being sorted out. Either way he is responsible. Frankly, being grossly negligent is almost worse because it shows he lacks good judgment.

Bush has also not taken any responsiblity for being "wrong" which makes it harder to stomache.

8. So * never tried to link Saddam w/ 9/11?
* never said that Iraq had WMDs?
* never said that he was getting "Yellow cake" from Africa?
* didn't use 9/11 5 times last week in a talk to troops
and their spouses?

:grr:

Hey Chris, it is on tape!

9. The Lie:
Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.

10. AWOL Bush's advisers told him Iraq was not a threat. He insisted it
was and told his people to make the evidence look like Saddam was in the process of making nukes to use against the U.S. That's more than "wrong". He L-I-E-D! And he told his people to go along with his lie. No amount of spin is going to fool the american people.. especially those of us who lost loved ones in Iraq due to AWOL's lie.

12. This is an excellent example of the way the other side...
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 07:27 AM by Totally Committed
unites and marches in lock-step behind Bush, or a meme, or whatever. And it is a prime reason why they have been able to take over this country. They are never "off-message". They never stray from the accepted "talking points". They repeat and repeat until the listeners take whatever they say as the Gospel Truth. Even the moderates participate 99% of the time.

This has to happen in the Democratic Party, to a good extent, if we are ever going to be successful in reframing the conversation, and reclaim any ground against them.

It's an excellent object lesson in just how and why the average "sheeple" voters who vote for them THINK and BELIEVE they are doing the right thing. They don't have to pay attention, or read extensively to make their voting decision... all they have to do is listen for the sound bites, and if they miss it once, it is repeated enough times again and again, by every Repub that speaks, so they remember it and think it is the truth.

Remember, a majority of average voters think:

Saddam and Iraq were involved in 9/11

WMD's WERE found in Iraq already

George Bush is a good, decent Christian man

A fetus is a human being, and abortion is murder

We are pro-terrorist

and on and on and on.... we need to get with THEIR program and start educating the Values Voters to OUR ideals and ideas.

He isn't a liar. He is just wrong. He doesn't know what the
hell he is doing but that is OK because he tell the truth about
things he knows nothing about. Now I've got it. I think.

God, the lengths those people go to to prop up that mental midget
and moral cretin is absolutely breathtaking.
