Ohio Governor Says He Failed to Report Golf Outings
Gov. Bob Taft failed to report a number of golf outings on his financial disclosure statements, the same omission that figured in the earlier resignation of three of his agency heads. In a letter to the Ohio Ethics Commission, Taft wrote that it "has recently come to my attention" that he failed to list the outings on required financial disclosure forms in past years. He released the letter Tuesday.

The Republican said he would seek the commission's guidance on how to make reimbursements and provide appropriate disclosures. Taft would have no further comment on the advice of his lawyer, spokesman Mark Rickel said. Rickel said he would not comment on the number of outings or who may have sponsored them.

Three former directors under Taft resigned following assertions they accepted golf outings from companies that did business with their agencies. In 2003, Rick Frenette resigned as state fair director and Randy Fischer quit as director of the Ohio School Facilities Commission. In 2002, Ohio Turnpike Commission director Gino Zomparelli resigned.

3. Let me see if I have Taft's side of the story straight
He's had three heads of various state agencies resign out from under him for failing to fill out their financial disclosure statements properly. The missing information had to do with golf outings paid for by parties that had business before the agencies involved, and presented a clear conflict of interest. (This, of course, is totally distinguishable from the Vice President going hunting with a Supreme Court Justice before whom he has a case because, uhm, er . . . well, it's just DIFFERENT, that's all, you commie-loving troop-hating bastard. Quit remembering stuff.)

Anyway, Gov. Taft fills out his financial disclosure statements and forgets that he, too, has some rounds of golf that should be on the statements. Sorry, it "has recently come to his attention" that the disclosure forms he signed weren't complete. But his office isn't going to disclose even now how many times he went golfing on someone else's nickel or who was picking up the tab.

And Taft sees nothing wrong with this, apparently. Perp walk in the governor's future?

4. Taft sounds like he has a future
in the Bush Crime Family. Maybe they can put him in charge of rebuilding Iraq.
