Rank the 2008 Dem Contenders
While it is interesting who we support as our #1 candidate, one can tell a lot about which candidate will do well given their position on the grocery lists of many people.

Taking electability and issues both into account, I currently support, in this order:

1. President Gore
2. Mark Warner
3. Hilary Clinton
4. Wes Clark
5. Evan Bayh

6. Ed Rendell
7. John Kerry
8. Russ Feingold
9. Joe Biden
10. Bill Richardson

11. John Edwards

I like Feingold, but believe being single and twice divorced will kill him in the red states. I also like Kerry a lot, but he still shows no political initiative which implies he won't do well at the national level. I don't like Clinton and Bayh, but Bayh may play well in the red states, and Hilary has the ruthlessness that gives her an edge as a candidate.

1. Sorry, it's too early for me
I would rather think about 2006.

2. I like Feingold too
I hope he wins, however, I agree with your assessments generally. I think Edwards is higher than Biden though.

5. Al Gore
6. John Edwards.

Hillary Clinton, not so much. Biden and Bayh, never.

6. I actually like your list better,
but I was trying to give the other folks the benefit of the doubt.

And please, let it NOT be Biden!

But, I think these are the only two that could pull it off.

7. Ditto your list...
and added Kerry as 3rd because he did well considering the amount of slime thrown at him in 2004.

1. Clinton (Kerry VP)
2. Gore (Kerry VP)
3. Kerry (Clinton VP)

There's no way I'd vote gop anyway so bozo the clown could be running as a Dem and I'm behind him 100%.

10. After Wes Clark, I'm lukewarm on most everyone.
I like Feingold, but, like you, I don't think he could turn a red state. Hillary - never will turn a red state and she might even lose Pennsylvania.
Warner was a pick until I heard he went to Bilderberg.
I love Conyers and Rangle, but, sadly, the country won't elect a liberal of color.
Gore would be good, but he won't run again.

Frustrating.

14. Ok, I'll bite!

1. Gen. Wes Clark X
2. Sen. Russ Feingold X
3. Sen. Barbara Boxer X
4. Sen. Hilary Clinton ** +
5. Gov. Bill Richardson ** +
6. Sen. Evan Bayh ** +
7. Gov. Mark Warner ** +
8. VP Al Gore X

X = Grassroots choices
** = Establishment Choices
+ = Media Choices

It's all downhill after that!

15. wow

Sorry to say, I don't think the moderates are electable or convincing. I thought that was the lesson of the '04 primaries and general (in the case of Edwards), but I guess the denial of that isn't going to die until the '08 primaries. Moderate works on the state level but doesn't have strong enough answers for the national level.

Since Feingold is unelectable, that leaves me with Clinton and Kerry as the two that straddle the liberal/moderate line well enough.

16. i have a cross off list
cross off biden: joe votes with the republicans most of the time. i used to really like him. is he still a democrat?

cross off kerry: uhhhh....no (it's a personal matter--i feel jilted. is jilted a real word?)

cross off bill richardson: stopped the recount in new mexico. hell, it was only a few electoral votes anyway. right?

cross off gore: too much old business the republicans can throw up from 2000 -- i want to make them work at tearing down our candidate rather than just reaching onto the back burner--that's too easy.

18. here's a few links to stuff (i googled, obviously)
http://www.votecobb.org/recount/new_mexico/

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0501/S00152.htm

"The Green and Libertarian candidates had raised $114,000 for the recount, which they said was all that was required by the state election code." so the greens & libs couldn't afford the price tag once it got upped to 1.4 million dollars.
