Bush was going to focus on selling the Iraq War...
Just a few days ago, polls showed that the majority of people did not support the war in Iraq. This was a direct blow to George W Bush. The White House decided that Dubya would go on a PR campaign to re-sell the war in Iraq. Is he being successful or is he falling on his face? Have the Bolton nomination and the Downing Street memoes stopped all the momentum on his precious war?

3. If by PR Campaign you mean...
* wandering around the country talking to people who sign his oath of loyalty... I always wondered how he could ever reach the people who don't agree with him when he doesn't let them into his speaches.

Then there's the whole issue of trying to market a pile of poo. Eventually people start to notice what it really is.

4. He doesn't care who comes to his speeches
the MSM will be there and say that throngs of people were nodding their heads in agreement as Bush say American soldiers must die for oil. If you are a Republican that is how you make the most of a PR trip... not actually meeting with people!

8. That may be true to some extent...
But I have seen LTTEs where people might have gone to a speech (maybe it was soc sec, I can't remember exactly) and they were annoyed about the loyalty oath.

SO if he can piss people off, even one at a time, that can turn the tide.

5. I hope he does as well as he did with his Social Security tour
This guy is NOT a salesman. He keeps stepping into the back room to "ask his manager," but the buyers are well armed with the latest Consumer Reports.

7. Great analogy!
When I read Kentuck's thread, my first thought was how Bush flopped selling SS privatization (that morphed into benefit cuts). I like your take on it.

6. Hitler also made the error of fighting on too many fronts
Social Security privatization is the Bushoilini "Eastern Front." The Downing Street Memos are an allied landing in Sicily.

9. right--the soldiers dying, others all dying, bombs and suicide bombers
are not a problem, all those lies, over and over are not the problem--the problem is , you see, the way it has been "sold", so change the packaging , but leave the crummy candy the way it was. Then watch the poll numbers go up. I don't think bush cares on bit about the polls. Why should he?

10. let him..........it reminds people of
his lies about this war...about the money we blew and sunk into a rat trap....the deaths of soldiers and innocents in Iraq...........and should most of all remind people that they don't see the caskets coming home.........(the real hit in the face of war!)
