Yes that's right, DSM has offically bade it to the NPR Big Time, with several reports on ATC and Morning Addition, Now it's part of the Wait,Wait, Don't Tell Me!Quiz (Quiz 1, Question 2) and it also was the Final question of the show (for the show ending jokes).

June 18, 2005

Welcome to Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, NPR's weekly news quiz program. Find out how well you know your news by playing the interactive online version below. You can also listen to this week's show with host Peter Sagal.

Who's Tom This Time?

Quote 1 (Listen)

TOM: "Nov. 15th, 1929... Martin Luther King is born. Feb. 11, 1990... Nelson Mandela is freed. June 13, 2005... Remember THIS date, for it is a part of HIStory."

That, from a certain person's Web site, putting in historical context a court decision in his favor. Who will be celebrating June 13 as his own personal Day of Liberation?

• Answer 1

Quote 2 (Listen)

TOM: "Deep Throat now has an English accent."

That's Jefferson Morley of The Washington Post. He was talking about the anonymous British source who leaked a document that's at the center of a growing political storm -- a document known as what?

Hint: It's named for the prime minister's residence.

• Answer 2

Quote 3 (Listen)

TOM: "First they came for SpongeBob... Then lesbian-loving cartoon bunny Buster... Now Big Bird."

That was blogger Josh Marshall, shaking his head at a surprising attempt by Congress to completely eliminate funding for what?

• Answer 3

1. I could care less.
NPR pulled all of their shows off of Audbile; now I can't download "Wait Wait" to my iPod! I'd have to buy a cheap Microsoft infected MP3 player to hear it now.

2. Sorry you feel that way, how long have you had your Ipod?
Which one? Have you heard about the Battery replacement Issue?

3. Don't get me wrong....
...it's great news that the DSM is getting more attention. I just wish I could listen to it.

I've had my pod for about 6 months now, and find it so handy. The AAR podcasts are going to save my life when Sirius drops them next month; I already listen to Rachel every morning when I get up for my daily dose of news, thanks to the podcast.

Yeah, I've heard about the battery replacement issue. Concerns me.

4. I hadn't heard about Sirius dumping AAR
When did that happen? I know its a discusting thought to most here, myself included (and I've been a member of AOL since 1992), but have you looked into the deal between AAR/Sirius and AOL? I don't know if you have to join AOL to use it or the other Radio services AOL has a partneships with.

Also, I don't know how to use the Podcasts, so maybe you could help with this, In about 45 minutes, I'm going to post a new Thread about "Le Show," Harry Shearer that is also Podcast from KCRW. If you see it, I'd love if you could contribute on if and how well the Le Show Podcast works.

It will have a title some thing like:
Harry Shearer-"LeShow" stating at 1:00pm EDT Don't Miss it.

"Le Show" is great Very anti-RW.

I hope to see you there.

5. AAR and Sirius
Apparently what happened is that AAR wanted to renew their deal with Sirius, and Sirius backed out. As a result, AAR signed a deal with XM as their "exclusive" satellite provider. As a result, after July 10th, Randi and Mike both get shafted since XM won't carry them, preferring the Republicans Ed Schultz and Alan Colmes in those time slots.

I've gotten Le Show's podcast from time to time, but don't subscribe to it. Between my own (http://www.lowbudgetradio.com/rss.xml) the AAR podcasts, and "This American Life" I have a lot to listen to.
