Rehnquist will retire June 27th
Rumor has it that Rehnquist will retire and
Bush Inc. will give him the "accolades" he
"deserves" (blogs, have some facts on him
ready).
Look for a new nominee launched into media
on Friday July 2nd with flags waving etc.
and little media focus except by huzzahs
by conservative press.

3. No surprise
And another conservative will take his place on the bench. Some things are inevitable.

4. I'm suprised he held out this long
At least it's not a liberal or swing vote that's retiring.

5. Let's just pray that Stevens can hold out until the Chimp is gone.
The worst outcome of Rehnquist leaving is that Half Assed Monkey Boy will probably promote Fat Tony to Chief Justice. Even so the balance of the court won't really change. Stevens dying (I doubt he would retire) would be the true disaster.

anything yet! Let the fireworks begin! The 4th of July weekend couldn't be a more perfect time to start. I wonder if bush* will take the advice the moderates gave him regarding discussing his choice with them first. One good thing about them duking it out...is bush*/Frist will have less time to do their dirty work of cutting taxes for the wealthy/mega wealthy/corporations/CEO's/mega donors, attacking SS and planning another war to get his ratings up/protect America from all those evil angry terrorists that he just created... but of course the latter chore is already complete and on his desk.

brought before the supreme court.

...for the blue states to secede from the Onion and take our fucking tax revenue with us. No more begging for highway money from Washington. Imagine grand, green fields of Cannabis Sativa which can be sold to those in the prohibitionist south at a hefty profit. Time to re-seat OUR Capitol in Philadelphia where it belongs!!!!

Fuck the "Supreme" court, Fuck Bush, and Fuck Harold Ford and his tick eaten blue dogs.

In the words of THEIR president, "BRING EM' ON".

...and I don't have a good feeling about how the next supreme court nominee is going down, the Dems just don't have the votes, we're screwed...as in collective 'we': THE ENTIRE COUNTRY.

11. actually they are....
GOP Inc. worked hard during Clinton's term to
keep the judge slots unfilled by Clinton nominees
so they could get their judges in now...all
Radical Right ideologues who want to dismantle
everything about the Federal government except
Defense budgets and of course, their own paychecks,
health coverage and pensions.

12. Are you complaining? Your local judges will be notified
immediately by your neighborhood Citizen Patriot Loyalist God-Fearing Righteousness Squad (CPLGFRS), and we will haul your ass up before the bench for some INTERROGATION and OLD TESTAMENT JUSTICE.

15. I don't see Rehnquist retiring as an issue
All it means is that one conservative is going to replace another. Even Scalia as Chief Justice causes me to lose no sleep; the power is simply not that great.

When a liberal or O'Conner retires, I will panic.

17. It will be a wash....
Replacing Rehnquist with another conservative doesn't really change the balance of the court.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if Bush plays the race card by nominating Clarence Thomas for Chief Justice, or nominating a black or Latino judge to replace Rehnquist.
