Gov. Perry says unhappy Tx. gays should move out of state

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/6/6/121159/9781

Texas Governor Rick Perry's Anti-Gay Remarks

Yesterday the Governor of Texas, the person elected to serve all Texans, had this to say to GLBT Texans:

Local NBC Anchor: "Among the protesters were gay veterans and their partners. We asked the governor about his take on gay veterans, many of whom may one day have fewer rights than everyone else."

Rick Perry: "Texans made a decision about marriage and if there's a state that has more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that's a better place for them to live."

I am a Texan, and I'll not let the likes of Rick Perry tell me to leave this state. What's next, they'll pass a law that forces us to leave? Are they going to load us into cattle cars and ship us away if we don't go peacefully?

The governor needs to apologize.

Perry needs a come-down. let's give it to him.

1. Why does this make less news than Dean's remarks?
This is far more serious.

Do you have an email address for this bigot?

5. No kidding
Remember when GoodHair's wife left the mansion after discovering Rickie with an aide?
Ask just about anyone in the Entertainment/Restaurant biz in Austin, Rickie is no secret.

7. I live next door to Texas
and even I want to snatch him baldheaded and throw him into a biker bar to strut and preen and tell them how great he is and how much Jesus has favored him above all others.

I really can't stomach that man. He's an obvious Bush protege.

18. Yeah...
... does he really mean "unhappy closeted gays"?

One of these days someone's going to get pictures, and its going to be a really bad hair day for Perry.

10. That could mean fewer districts for DeLay to fool with
...and fewer safely red electoral votes.

11. I feel sorry for Texians...
I have a bunch of Democratic family living in Texas and I don't know how they stand it. Signing bills within a church and now this?

Sad...really sad...

13. Wouldn't that be illegal though?
Can he sign a bill in church? That church should have the IRS on their ass.

14. Remember: This is a so-called Christian NATION
And since they actually believe that tripe, doesn't this statement translate into "Gays should leave this Christian country"?

And if all the Gays were somehow to leave, who is next? Muslims? Jews? Buddhists?

These people disgust me.

16. He'll be gone soon (from the Governor's mansion, at least)
And the gays will still be here.

Let the former cheerleader repeat his statement to members of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association! www.texasgayrodeo.org/

20. He doesn't really want that to happen
Legislating against gays is just good business for him -- if they all leave, he'd have one less smokescreen to cover up his record.
