Is it premature to declare Ohio repubs dead for the foreseeable future?
BWC lost $215 million in high-risk fund

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation admitted today that it lost $215 million in a high-risk fund that few people knew about.

The bureau had invested $355 million with a Pittsburgh investment firm, MDL Capital Management, beginning in 1998.

But last year, after diverting $225 million into a fund that works like a hedge fund, the fund lost $215 million. Although the bureau has known about the loss since last year, Gov. Bob Taft was notified about it today.

“There are investigations going on, including the Inspector General,” bureau spokesman Jeremy Jackson told The Blade.

1. Yes
When Democrats win statewide elections, then I will start talking about GOP being dead. This is looking very much like what happened before. The GOP was riding high and then got hit with a bunch of corruption charges most of which were accurate. Let's hope history repeats itself.

2. Very premature
The RNC holds every Ohio position which counts. The GOPers over there are just holding their breath and pointing to staffers as the guilty parties.

I'd say it depends if the RNC can get the media under control again. The Blade is under constant attack.

5. Several of the Repug judges there("CJ" Moyers included) recused themselves
from the investigation, due to conflict of interest of tainted monies they'd received for their campaigns from this "coin dealer." If Ohio's Supreme Court is recused, those Election Fraud cases might just scoot through SOON.

3. Pittsburgh firm called "MDL?" Would that be "M" as in Scaife "Mellon?"
This Workers' Comp/Coin money is more than a smoking gun. It's a twelve-gun salute of embezzlement. And it seems to stretch to political contributions to campaigns of Repug Candidates and Judges nationwide.

Speaking of which, didn't Bush make a quick visit to Ohio early on election day? Could he have been dropping off some valuable coins from our nation's history, in exchange for some victorious Repug candidates (judges included)???

What I want to know is where Blackwell is in all this? He HAS to be involved big time...since he "delivered" Ohio, as promised.

4. One thing Ohio DOES have.....
Are DieBold machines, thanks to Wally O'Dell.

......"In an invitation to a Republican fund-raiser at his suburban Columbus mansion, O'Dell said he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes for the president next year."

The letter closely followed a visit by O'Dell to a fund-raising powwow at Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch for six-figure fund-raisers known as "Pioneers and Rangers."

:puke:
