Kerry Takes to Ice with Hockey Greats
Now, this is a gutsy move. Read the last paragraph.

Kerry Takes to Ice with Hockey Greats in N.Hampshire
By REUTERS (Saturday)

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - John Kerry, leading the pack of Democratic presidential candidates in New Hampshire, laced up his skates on Saturday and took to the ice with some legendary hockey stars from the Boston Bruins.

Wearing a University of New Hampshire jersey, a relaxed Kerry skated onto the ice in Manchester to join such former greats as Ray Bourque and Cam Neely from the Boston Bruins -- a team the Massachusetts senator has been devoted to since his childhood.

Then he put on a helmet and went on to score the first goal for the home team -- an equalizer -- as the crowd chanted: ``Kerry, Kerry, Kerry!'' and the speakers blared: ``We will, we will rock you.''

Although he protested he was ``in the worst shape of my life,'' the tall, athletic senator, who also hunts, windsurfs and rides a motorcycle, looked impressive as he crossed paths with the former stars in a sometimes fast-paced game. Kerry's team lost 9-8.

``It felt fantastic,'' Kerry said later, although he admitted he would have enjoyed it more if he was in better shape.

Kerry has played other celebrity games in Massachusetts, but none with the visibility of this one. The arena was packed with journalists and television cameras poised to capture any embarrassing slips the skating candidate might make.

5. Goes without saying
Would be the same with any candidate--they're all looking for the next "Dean speech" to blow way the hell out of proportion.

4. Saw it on CSpan -- a truly great campaign event!
Kerry's jersey read, "Kerry 04," and the event, which included firefighters out on the ice, little kids, and celebs, was at the JFK Arena in Manchester. Kerry was lookin' good --

6. Political Play of the Week...spectacular...red, white and blue
blue and white for the team...with Kerry the tallest and heading the line-up as kids in red outfits stood nearby...the National Anthem sung by a wonderful vocalist....Kerry American flag gloves....WOW !!!!

and then, Kerry thanks everyone...explains how his childhood dream was always to skate with the Bruins, just like the children on the ice today...and Kerry admitted to being in bad shape for this now, but thanked the team for "Kerry-ing MY dream today"....because they let him make a few goals....

all of this in the JFK hockey rink....(John F. Kerry...oops, no, John F. Kennedy...)....

POLITICAL PLAY OF THE WEEK....his opponents may as well give up right now....Kerry...upcoming President of the United States.

GO Kerry....beat bush*
