John Edwards is *50*, okay?!
Sigh...I've just seen the 90th post referring to Edwards' "youth." He's not 30, he's 50, all right? In a world where every TV show and magazine tells us how to keep a trim waistline and youthful skin, do we have to penalize a man who's actually managed to acheive these things?

Please, no more about Edwards' "youth," unless you think 70 is a good age for a president. He's 50!!!

6. Ben Stein
calls him the Breck girl. I have to admit I chuckled when I heard that. (Don't worry, I think Edward and all our top candidates rock.)

20. Edward says he resents that cause he's cuter than the Breck girl!
Said that on Bill Maher a few weeks ago and brought the house down.

17. Actually JFK was 43
when he was elected in November 1960. JFK was born in May, 1917. I don't remember the exact date. My father was born in April, 1917, that's why I remember it.

29. LOL!
You're a grandma, remember?? :hi:

Actually, people forget Clinton was only 46 when elected, the 3rd youngest president to attain office, behind Theodore Roosevelt (42 when McKinley was assassinated), and Kennedy, the youngest elected at 43. TR was the second oldest elected at 45, so those are the three youngest every which way.

Oldest to be elected? William Henry Harrison at age 69, Reagan second at 68. Reagan was the oldest to serve at 76.

11. *sheepish grin*
Until I went and read his bio, I thought MAYBE 43 tops! He looks a damned sight younger than 50, and there's nothing wrong with that except for people like me who don't bother to read bios. However, let me say in my case, I wasn't concerned about his age which is why it was meaningless to me until I found out how much of a disparity there was between his appearance and his actual age- Still meaningless as a criteria for choosing a President, but Day-YUM, the man looks GOOD!

I don't care about his age, more his relative inexperience.

25. 20 years successful work as an attorney, including building his own
business and managing it effectively, plus 6 years of distinguished service in the Senate= outstanding experience.

Bush has more relevant experience than any of our candidates, namely 3 years as pResident. Does that make him more qualified?

26. no it doesn't
but Edwards has not even completed one senate term. That's the kind of experience he needs and what the Bush administration will pound him on til he cracks.

He would do fine I think...but I'd like to see him as VP first to get the expereince that will make him an untouchable democratic candidate

28. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't
Some people beat up on him because he's a Senator and therefore part of the Washington Establishment. Yet others complain that he hasn't been in Washington long enough

31. you don't need to tell me about that
I'm a kucinich supporter.

I like Edwards, I don't think he's an insider or as moderate as he's made out to be. I don't know as though I'd trust his inexperience in the ELECTION. But give him 8 years as a VP and he wins in a landslide
