Should Democrats permit an up-or-down vote on Bolton ??
And make a few moderate Republicans take a stand? As it is, they can hide behind the skirt of the Republicans and pretend they are all for Bolton and the Republican agenda. Although Bolton would be aterrible choice for the UN, and they know it, would it be beneficial in the long run to let him go through? Let them show where they stand? No more cover from the Democrats? Would that be a political gamble worth taking?

1. He is too bad of a nominee to go through
Normally I am all for a President having his team but this guy is bordering on psychotic and thus is manifestly unfit.

2. Yes
It's just UN Ambassador for Christ's sake. The minority needs to pick their battles. 4 years ago Linda Chavez was tossed as Sec of Labor and Asscroft was confirmed. Focus on the Supreme Court.

4. frankly, what does it really matter
we have over a year before the midterm election, and because of the wisdom of the morans in this country, we now a minority party.

when we should have fought against this administration in his first term, we didn't

it will take 5 to 7 years more of this crap, more Americans killed, and innocent civillians killed, the overturning of roe v wade, banning of embroyonic stem cell research, privatizing social security and medicare, and eventually the return of the draft before this country realizes what a mistake we have made

Then it will be back to square one

8. Which they won't do,
so there should not be a vote if the senate is not fully informed about the nominee.

The White House is obstructing the vote.

7. Not until the white house releases the documents on Bolton...
Until then, it's not even about bolton, it's about the legislative branch standing up as an equal to the executive.

12. I think so. Let them reap what they sow.
For the U.S., I think it is a lot of pain and destruction now, or much more later. And that is a sad thing to say. American hegemony will destroy American democracy.

13. Good point about hiding behind the skirt, but it's our skirt.
The repub mods won't take a stand because we fight their battles for them. I think there's something to be said for letting the RW be seen for what it is.
