Words for Memorial Day ...
posted with permission:

Memorial Day, May 30, 2005

In Honor of all our American Indian Warrior's, especially those who wear the U.S. Military Uniforms of America's Armed Forces, we thank you for your Duty and Service and know that you are indeed remembered on this day for your Service to the Sovereign Nations and to America. Thank you!

Indian Warrior’s

Indian Warrior’s..
Dressed in military brown,
Battling on foreign ground,
Ancestral generations,
Of the Sovereign Nations.

Indian Warrior’s....
Lending a exalted hand,
To protect your land.
Ancestral generations,
Of the Sovereign Nations.

Indian Warrior’s....
Combating day and night,
A bloodline that is tight,
Ancestral generations,
Of the Sovereign Nations.

Indian Warrior’s....
Some will bravely die,
And the relations will cry,
For the Ancestral Generations,
Of the Sovereign Nations.

Indian Warrior’s....
Your honor is here to stay,
For on this Memorial Day,
We salute you with pride and dignity,
We praise all those from the rez to the city,
All of our Veterans and Fallen Warrior’s,
From Ira Hayes to Lori Piestewa,
For they are of the Ancestral Generations,
Warrior’s of the Sovereign Nations.

The Wind Talker’s

Words softly sent upon the holy winds,
Voices that spoke from within,
Often holding sacred medicine,
A language they knew of ancestral time,
That was embedded within their mind,
These were the brave warriors of the Nations,
Code Talker’s of the ancestral generations.

Dressed in Army green,
Many were not even seen,
And when they did speak,
Their words were soft and sleek,
And what they did state,
Become an enemies fate,
These were the brave warrior’s of the Nations,
Code Talker’s of the ancestral generations.

Their hearts were of ancient times,
Sacred were their souls and minds,
Many were gentle and not so old,
While some were strong and very bold,
Their manner full of respect and even a little witty,
Within they still maintain their pride and dignity,
These were the brave warrior’s of the Nations,
Code Talker’s of the ancestral generations.

In the wars they were very genuine,
And did their job so very fine,
And though their language was not understood,
Their Nations they served justly and good,
But a people still hated their race,
And their victory lost it’s place,
These were the brave warrior’s of the Nations,
Code Talker’s of the Ancestral generations.

Medals of honor were placed on men,
For the many battles they did win,
But for the Indian there was only disgrace,
Because he came from a different race,
And when the Indian became so very old,
Then the story of his victory was told,
For these indeed were the brave warrior’s of the Nation’s,
American Indian Code Talker’s,
Wind Talker’s of the Ancestral Generations!

To Honor Our Warrior’s

Grandfather’s,
With this sacred pipe,
I send my voice upon the winds to the heavens and the sky,
To our ancient and noble warrior’s of times gone by,
For they fought with dignity and enthusiastic pride,
As for their people and nations they graciously died,
And in the history of their death we do not laugh,
But honor them with our sacred pipes and eagle staffs.
So grandfather in our hearts, souls and mind,
We remember our many great warriors in kind,
Who fought, died and live without fear,
From Crazy Horse to Leonard Peltier,
To Russell Means and Dennis Banks,
We honor our great warrior’s with words of thanks.

Grandfather’s,
With this sacred pipe,
I stand before you in a most humble way,
With pity I ask you to hear my voice this day,
For my heart is strong and very pure,
And my words are warm and truly sincere,
As I seek from you a blessing for all my relations,
Who fought to protect our great Sovereign Nations,
In the Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force,
Men and women representing a strong military source,
And with hearts of pride they took a stand
To help secure peace and freedom on foreign lands,
These our brave Indian people of the military ranks,
And so today we honor our veterans with words of thanks.

Grandfather’s,
With this sacred pipe,
My holy words in this sacred way I do send,
For our warrior’s and veterans of now and then.
From the Veterans memorial to the Vietnam Wall,
Oh how they fought so bravely and stood so tall,
Leaving their way of life and home,
Families and children often forever left all alone,
To keep America, land of the brave, home of the free,
Fighting against injustice, terror and tyranny,
Bringing down the evil of corporate greed,
Tearing apart the destructive propaganda seed,
Obstructing the path of racial hate
So many suffering a murderous fate.
Through the World Wars to Desert Storm they did fight,
Putting their life on the line day and night.
So yes, do remember these distinguished veterans in our mind,
Heroic and loyal Warrior’s and Veterans of America’s time.
Today we pay tribute to All American Men and Women Veterans,
And for the American Hispanic Indian and for the American Indian,
We salute you with our sacred pipes and eagle staffs.
To all American Veterans, we give our thanks for keeping America Free!

I Will Not Fall

Heavy diesel still wakes me in the night.
I do not like to move about,
When a hunter's moon is bright.
I tell myself, I did not fall.

Sinking back to sleep,
The channel 7 chopper,
Still sends chills to my feet.
I wonder, slicks or guns.
I tell myself, I did not fall.

Still I see them on the field,
My brothers strong and brave and clean.
Then distant thunder snaps me awake again.
I tell myself, I did not fall.

Fireworks, I can do without,
Especially, green and white and red.
My woman and my child do not wake me,
With a touch, but say my name instead.
Waking, I tell myself I did not fall.

Every night, I dream,
My brothers, sisters, still strong and bright and clean.
Waking, there is work, duty, still to do.
I tell myself, I will not fall.

The day will come,
When I walk with them again.
Across maps of dark and light green.
But No, not yet!
I will not fall.
