and then he said "don't make a joke about *'s (TANG) service because we know he didn't serve." The caller's sons served in Vietnam.
:patriot:
Now he's retelling WWII stories. it's call-in day for Veterans, especially those of WWII to talk about the end of the war. This is an excellent show today. The stories are amazing. Igor Belousovitch (sp?) is the guest. He's a Russian-American WWII vet who translated for the US at the meeting of the Soviet and US forces at the Elbe River. He took photos of the event , including a photo of a Russsian Calvary troop (on horseback, of course!)

edit: sp. I've had only one cup of java so far. :donut: :) :patriot:

1. Good for the TRUE soldiers of the Greatest Generation
My father was a battlefield commissioned WWII combat engineer (34th Infantry Division). If he wasn't in a State Veterans' Hospital in the terminal stages of Alzheimer's, he'd concur with this man: Those that had their wealthy Fathers pay their way out of military service are cowards.

My father came out of the CCCs from the farmlands of South Dakota. He was no fortunate son. He will always be my hero.

Bless all Real Military Veterans, past and present.

These WWII veterans, men and women, from all over the USA are true heros!
Thank your father for his service to us in WWII.

My husband's father (who I never met) served in Italy in WWII. I have several great uncles (long dead) who served in the Navy in WWII.

My dad (aslo dead) was an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Army Captain/Post Commander in Germany from 1963-1965.
He was drafted when I was 6 weeks old. He was in the 101st Airborne, Fort Campbell, Kentucky! We were stationed in Kitzingen, Germany

3. A salute to my family's vets...
My maternal grandfather: A sargent in the Pacific theater in WWII

My paternal grandfather: An Army medic in the European theater in WWII. He had a 6th grade education but was recruited as a medic because he had worked as a butcher. His helmet bore a red cross and he said the Germans used to use that red cross as an aiming target.

My dad: Signed up for the Air Force in 1965. Because he has three paralyzed fingers in his right hand he never faught in Vietnam, but he was an airplane mechanic stationed in Okinawa.

My brother: National Guard then US Air Force Special Forces Operation. Served in the Gulf War and god only knows where else. Can't tell you how many times he would call us in the middle of the night and say, "I'm off on a mission; I don't know where I'm going or how long I'll be there. I'll call you when I get back in the country."

And I can't leave out my husband's grandfater who severed in the British Army under Rommell and Montgomery in WWII - saw action in Egypt in Libya and chased the Germans for 1500 miles across the North African deserts.

Our country appreciates and honors the valuable service of our current and future vets!!!!!!
