Read this email from Congressman Conyers then act again on Downing Memo

The Downing Street Memo
May 27, 2005

Dear Friend:
As many of you are aware, a classified memo was recently disclosed in Great Britain that I believe has serious ramifications for the integrity of the United States Government. Dubbed the “Downing Street Memo,” but actually comprising the minutes of a meeting of Prime Minister Tony Blair and other top British government officials, the memo casts serious doubt on many of the contentions of the Bush Administration in the lead up to the Iraq war. With over 1,600 U.S. servicemen and servicewomen killed in Iraq, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and over $200 billion in taxpayer funds going to this war effort, we cannot afford to stand by any longer.

Along with 88 of my colleagues, I wrote to the President requesting answers about this grave matter. Thus far, our search for the truth has been stonewalled and I need your help. I believe the American people deserve answers about this matter and should demand directly that the President tell the truth about the memo. To that end, I am asking you to sign on to a letter to the President requesting he answer the questions posed to him by 89 Members of Congress.

I will personally insure that this letter is delivered to the White House.

You can read the letter here and sign on to it below. You and I know the White House is just hoping that this matter will fade away, but in a few short weeks, with our steadfastness, the memo has found its way into leading newspapers and White House press briefings. With your help, we can hold this Administration accountable.

Please pass on this important letter to your friends and colleagues, and ask them to sign as well.

Thank you for your help and support.

John Conyers, Jr.

Letter to Pres Bush Concerning "Downing Street Memo"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Letter to President Bush Concerning the Downing Street Memo

The Honorable George W. Bush
President of the United States of America
1600 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20005

Dear Mr. President:

We the undersigned write to you because of our concern regarding recent disclosures of a “Downing Street Memo” in the London Times, comprising the minutes of a meeting of Prime Minister Tony Blair and his top advisers. These minutes indicate that the United States and Great Britain agreed to by the summer of 2002 to attack Iraq, well before the invasion and before you even sought Congressional authority to engage in military action, and that U.S. officials were deliberately manipulating intelligence to justify the war.

"Unborn children of the region being asked to pay the highest price, the integrity of their DNA."
I know the pictures are so very disturbing. This pictures specifically are so big in scale and clear that they seem even more disturbing than the ones I have seen before.
The American people need to see them and accept the facts of our Governments atrocities.
Just like all of the other horrific things done in our NAME !
The pictures do not belong to me, I am just passing the truth on and so must you.
These pictures came from a web site and the author wanted these pictures exposed, help do this if you can.
My hope is that many will help to spread these pictures to the public especially Americans who are not told the truth from our Government or the main stream media.

My heart breaks for all of them. i can not even imagine how the mothers' and father's feel. What happens to the babies ?

These mid-wives are purported to have said they no longer look forward to births as.... "We don't know what's going to come out."

This link will take you directly to the pictures of babies with extreme deformities from the depleted uranium weapons dust.

They are very upsetting but just try to imagine your baby born like this. American babies are affected as well just not as many , yet.

Doctors' survey of families estimates Iraqi wartime deaths at 100,000
*****October 29, 2004*****
Press Report on Lancet Study
Study: 100,000 Excess Civilian Iraqi Deaths Since War
By Patricia Reaney

snip---
"Making conservative assumptions, we think that about 100,000 excess deaths, or more have happened since the 2003 invasion of Iraq," said Les Roberts of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in a report published online by The Lancet medical journal.

"The use of air power in areas with lots of civilians appears to be killing a lot of women and children," Roberts told Reuters.

The report came just days before the U.S. presidential election in which the Iraq war has been a major issue.

Mortality was already high in Iraq before the war because of United Nations sanctions blocking food and medical imports but the researchers described what they found as shocking.

The new figures are based on surveys done by the researchers in Iraq in September 2004. They compared Iraqi deaths during 14.6 months before the invasion in March 2003 and the 17.8 months after it by conducting household surveys in randomly selected neighborhoods.

Previous estimates based on think tank and media sources put the Iraqi civilian death toll at up to 16,053 and military fatalities as high as 6,370.

By comparison about 849 U.S. military were killed in combat or attacks and another 258 died in accidents or incidents not related to fighting, according to the Pentagon.

Doctors' survey of families estimates Iraqi wartime deaths at 100,000 Friday, October 29, 2004 Emma Ross Associated Press London - A survey of deaths in Iraqi households estimates that as many as 100,000 more people may have died throughout the country in the 18 months since the U.S.-led invasion than would be expected based on the death rate before the war.

snip---
The scientists who wrote the report concede that the statistics they based their projections on were of "limited precision," be cause the quality of the information depends on the accuracy of the household interviews used for the study.

*** The interviewers were Iraqis, most of them doctors.***

Designed and conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University and the Al-Mustansiriya University located in Baghdad, the study was published Thursday on the Web site of the Lancet medical journal.

*******This was before November, 2004 assault in Fallujah*******

Published on Monday, April 19.
by Rahul Mahajan

NOTE: Doctors from four hospitals in Baghdad were interviewed in compiling this report; all asked that their names be left out.

Baghdad, Iraq -- “Why do you keep asking about the closing of the Fallujah hospital?” my Iraqi translator asks in exasperation. I explain that this is big news, and it hasn’t really been reported in English. He looks at me, incredulous; all Iraqis know about it.

When the United States began the siege of Fallujah, it targeted civilians in several ways. The power station was bombed; perhaps even more important, the bridge across the Euphrates was closed. Fallujah’s main hospital stands on the western bank of the river; almost the entirety of the town is on the east side. Although the hospital was not technically closed, no doctor who actually believes in the Hippocratic oath is going to sit in an empty hospital while people are dying in droves on the other bank of the river. So the doctors shut down the hospital, took the limited supplies and equipment they could carry, and started working at a small three-room outpatient clinic, doing operations on the ground and losing patients because of the inadequacy of the setup. This event was not reported in English until April 14, when the bridge was reopened.

Here is a snip from Congressman John Conyers, Jr.
to Dictator Bush..

As a result of these concerns, we would ask that you respond to the following questions:
1) Do you or anyone in your administration dispute the accuracy of the leaked document?
2) Were arrangements being made, including the recruitment of allies, before you sought Congressional authorization to go to war? Did you or anyone in your Administration obtain Britain’’s commitment to invade prior to this time?
3) Was there an effort to create an ultimatum about weapons inspectors in order to help with the justification for the war as the minutes indicate?
4) At what point in time did you and Prime Minister Blair first agree it was necessary to invade Iraq?
5) Was there a coordinated effort with the U.S. intelligence community and/or British officials to “fix” the intelligence and facts around the policy as the leaked document states?

These are the same questions 89 Members of Congress, led by Rep. John

Among other things, the British government document quotes a high-ranking British official as stating that by July, 2002, “Bush had made up his mind to take military action.” Yet, a month later, the you stated you were still willing to “look at all options” and that there was “no timetable” for war. Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, flatly stated that “he president has made no such determination that we should go to war with Iraq.”

and remember it, along with votes on key issues and nominees, when the same people ask for our support in re-election. So I am glad that people are watching this aspect of things. As the news on the Memo still is circulating and the emals continue to come in, the pressure on the silent ones will increase. So let's keep those emails and calls and faxes cooking - and see how they respond.

35. Blix: Iraq Worse Off Now Than With Saddam

"(US President George W.) Bush has claimed that this war was part of an American fight against terrorism. But instead of limiting (the phenomenon), the war has generated more terrorism... This conflict has led to more instability."

Blix: Iraq Worse Off Now Than With Saddam

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Iraq is worse off now, after the U.S.-led invasion, than it was under Saddam Hussein, Hans Blix told a Danish newspaper Tuesday.

"What's positive is that Saddam and his bloody regime is gone, but when figuring out the score, the negatives weigh more," the former chief U.N. weapons inspector was quoted as saying in the daily newspaper Jyllands Posten.

"That accounts for the many casualties during the war and the many people who still die because of the terrorism the war has nourished," he said. "The war has liberated the Iraqis from Saddam, but the costs have been too great."

Below From The Nation back in 2003
Privatization in Disguise

On April 6, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz spelled it out: There will be no role for the United Nations in setting up an interim government in Iraq. The US-run regime will last at least six months, "probably...longer than that."

And by the time the Iraqi people have a say in choosing a government, the key economic decisions about their country's future will have been made by their occupiers. "There has got to be an effective administration from day one," Wolfowitz said. "People need water and food and medicine, and the sewers have to work, the electricity has to work. And that's a coalition responsibility."

The process of getting all this infrastructure to work is usually called "reconstruction." But American plans for Iraq's future economy go well beyond that. Rather, the country is being treated as a blank slate on which the most ideological Washington neoliberals can design their dream economy: fully privatized, foreign-owned and open for business. Some highlights: The $4.8 million management contract for the port in Umm Qasr has already gone to a US company, Stevedoring Services of America, and the airports are on the auction block. The US Agency for International Development has invited US multinationals to bid on everything from rebuilding roads and bridges to printing textbooks. Most of these contracts are for about a year, but some have options that extend up to four. How long before they meld into long-term contracts for privatized water services, transit systems, roads, schools and phones? When does reconstruction turn into privatization in disguise?

Please after everyone signs Congressman Conyer's letter and you have a little time please look at the babies in Iraq from Bush's WAR and help to expose this too !

"Unborn children of the region being asked to pay the highest price, the integrity of their DNA."
I know the pictures are so very disturbing. This pictures specifically are so big in scale and clear that they seem even more disturbing than the ones I have seen before
.The American people need to see them and accept the facts of our Governments atrocities.
Just like all of the other horrific things done in our NAME !
The pictures do not belong to me, I am just passing the truth on and so must you.
These pictures came from a web site and the author wanted these pictures exposed, help do this if you can.
My hope is that many will help to spread these pictures around to the public especially Americans who are not told the truth from our Government or the main stream media.

My heart breaks for all of them. I can not even imagine how the mothers' and father's feel. What happens to the babies ?

These mid-wives are purported to have said they no longer look forward to births as.... "We don't know what's going to come out."
This link http://www.seo-blog.org/5755_omfg_rageagainstthegop_machine/archive/26115_unborn_children_of_the_region_are_being_asked_to_pay_the_highest_price_the_integrity_of_their_dna_.html

will take you directly to the pictures of babies with extreme deformities from the depleted uranium weapons dust. It will take a minute to load the pictures.

** They are very upsetting but just try to imagine your baby born like this. American babies are affected as well just not as many , yet.**

Read this statement again……

68. You have to check this out, email I sent to Kathy at Mike Malloy's show
I just wrote your show at the air america web site but I want to make sure you and Mike get this message. It is very strange, indeed. Please read the White House or Yahoo someone is trying to keep this picture quiet.
The other day I downloaded a pic of American soldier with a "detainee" blind folded and the soldier marking on his forehead a number. I can not find the picture in my files , that are very organized.
Then tonight KoKo01 at DU posted a thread with link to yahoo actually, 2 links and one click no picture scrubbed then I clicked on the other and downloaded the picture. Then I downloaded 2 more times once in detainee camp folder, once in Iraq folder and once in no folder.
Went to load it at imageshack where I was going to load it to put on her thread. Locked in file can't use, so I went back to my computer pics to get it from the other folder same thing.
Next I looked for the one not in the folder and got it and posted it now it is on one of my blogs and up at DU on a dead thread.
All of this is crazy but true, here is link to my blog. Scroll down the page and it is the first picture on there.
http://www.seo-blog.org/5755_omfg_rageagainstthegop_machine
There was something written about the picture but I do not have that. I was going to go back for it and never got it.

here is thread link to DU.KoKo never wrote on this thread again but the picture is up.

and here is a great place to put Amnesty's Petition up again at DU !
I just know everyone who hasn't signed yet will want to.

Sign our Petition Letter and Pledge Your Commitment to Denounce Torture

As part of the Denounce Torture: Stop It Now! initiative, Amnesty International USA is hoping to have at least 250,000 people living in the United States sign a special statement against torture. Amnesty International USA will use this petition letter in our efforts to show the Bush Administration, Congress, and others that those living in the United States are strongly opposed to torture and ill-treatment in all circumstances.

Be the 6401st to sign!

part of the petition below

Torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment are despicable, immoral, illegal and always wrong. The highest authorities in my country should publicly denounce these acts in the strongest possible terms, and never utilize them, not least in my name.

Governments around the world should not only condemn but prosecute to the full extent of the law any of these acts by our own agents, whether in this country or anywhere else we have control. No one should be held in secret, beyond the eyes of the law, where such acts can flourish.

Here is a snip from Congressman John Conyer's letter to Dictator Bush

5) Was there a coordinated effort with the U.S. intelligence community and/or British officials to “fix” the intelligence and facts around the policy as the leaked document states?
snip---
When you click on the link just scroll down after you read this great letter and sign, Then they will send you an email to verify your email address and you are good to go. I can't wait to see how many signitures he gets , Well over the 100,000 requested I am hoping !
Solidarity

I think I'm going to attempt an email to Conyers. Maybe that will get it up and running again.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
Theodore Roosevelt, 1912

"This so-called ill treatment and torture in detention centers, stories of which were spread everywhere among the people, and later by the prisoners who were freed … were not, as some assumed, inflicted methodically, but were excesses committed by individual prison guards, their deputies, and men who laid violent hands on the detainees."
Rudolf Hoess,
the SS commandant at Auschwitz.

Look at the pictures on this link I provide and know this is happening to American children as well, just not in such great numbers as those of Iraqi children.
