A letter to my congressman.....Speaker Hastert
Dear Congressman
My mother is in the final stages of Alzheimer's Disease and her brother, my favorite uncle, is being devastated by Parkinson's Disease and my father in law recently died after terrible suffering from complications with Diabetes. I am so terribly disappointed you did not have the courage to support Federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. This research will of course, eventually take place, and it is sad that you will not be one of the brave men and women leading the charge for what will surely become a medical revolution.
Sincerely
Was I too nice?

1. Have you checked into the Illinois section?
And sorry about your folks; I also feel sorry for the folks who are going to suffer in the future from repugs putting politics over cures.

2. No. Thats the right way to handle these things.
Of course, letting elected officials know that your vote is not guaranteed is a good idea as well.

4. You did fine
Honed in on the issue, gave it your perspective, held him for his lack of courage.

You did fine!

Nominated.

7. He is a diabetic also.
One of his high profile proteges in the Illinois House, Tom Cross, has a diabetic daughter and has pushed SCR at the state level. Of course he has been attacked for that. You were nice but from my experience you will get a form letter telling you he is taking the moral high ground. He does what Tom DeLay tells him to do, not what his constituents ask.

8. Thanks for the wonderful feedback
I seldom send letters to public officials cause figure it is just "blowin' in the wind" but sometimes you just need to get it off your chest.....thanks again for your nice comments.
