Should Democrats not run an opponent against Graham or DeWine...?
To encourage them to stick with their guns and to let them know that they will not be challenged in their next election by a Democrat? This would not prevent the Repubs from challenging them in a primary, but it would alleviate some of the pressure on these two Senators for taking a courageous stand against their strict Party structure. Or should we challenge every Republican, everytime?

1. Of course we run against them....
And run hard, if we can find a candidate who can do that. We certainly haven't had much luck in Ohio in the last 20 years...

5. Right. Hopefully, the RW'ers will be pissed and not show up.
We need to pick up seats and win back control of the Senate.

3. I don't think either of them are going anywhere anyway.
Graham won with 55% and DeWine, a second term Senator, won with 60%. I find it hard to believe we could mount a serious challenge to either of them anyway.

4. NO , Graham and DeWine did not say they would have voted against
getting rid of the filibuster rules if it came to that.

7. I don't care if your some sort of oxymoronic liberal Republican
We should still run a Democrat against you. Heck, As long as it was only one or two, I'd vote for a conserrvative Dem like Zell Miller over his opposite number in the GOP (a liberal Republican). Here's why: Every Republican, no matter what their personal political philosophy, contributes to a Republican majority in Congress. And if you're the majority, you are the head of every single committee. Essentially, you create the agenda for that Congress. Being in the majority means you deicde what bills even get to be voted on, more or less.

So, I'd take a couple of Zell Millers and a Democratic majority over allowing a couple of moderate or liberal Republicans to keep their political lives.

8. Fantasy: they (and the rest of the 7) switch parties when they realize
the RW extremists in the GOP will oppose them.

Show the cat killer who's in charge: make him the leader of the MINORITY party by shifting the balance of power to us.

Like I said, it's a fantasy...

9. Very good idea re Graham. I live in his state. A Dem can't win anyway.
We are fortunate to have him in SC. He's as good as it can possibly get in this state. I actually supported him for that reason. He sides with Democrats on many (but certainly not all) issues.

The alternative is to get another Nazi repuke senator like Jim DeMint in SC. One of the local talk radio Pigboy copycats was on TV last night blasting Graham. He will probably face a tough challenge in the primary.

Or, we could run a token Dem in the general election, so as not to make it too obvious that we know we have a good thing in SC with Graham. But actually get some centrist SC Dems to privately support Graham in the primary.

You probably have to live in SC to know just how ultra right-wing it is.
