Bush oposition to stem cell is to protect religion from science.
I can't help but feel that the radical right is telling Bush to oppose stem cell research in order to stifle cures for disease. Religion has relied on incurable diseases as a recruiting tool since the beginning of time.

Science, Who has stolen millions of faithfull from the churches, due to it's real life solving of disease and suffering. Is on the brink of an enlightenment that will forever alter humanities quality of life. And forever render religion as a useless contributor to the cause of easing suffering.

That is why the American Taliban is against anything scientific, from evolution to stem cells. And if you ever get a question about evolution, then ask them to explain how a bacteria becomes drug therapy resistant?

To sum it up, The fundies whispering into Bush's ear want him to slow down or possibly stop scientific research because it will further render religion as impotent when it comes to truly relieving human suffering. After all, religion has built it's churches off the backs of suffering and desperate people looking for a cure to their suffering.

1. Small point the fundies and others forget
Corp Bush first love is the large corporations. The drug companies do not want this research done. If Stem cell research comes up with a cure for say diabetes how many BILLIONS per year will the drug companies lose..........

No matter what Bush's mouth is saying,,follow the $$$$$$$$$.

6. Huge $$$ to be made off of stem cell research.
Mark my words, * won't veto this. He's only offering the fundies some temporary solace while the house and senate get the legislation through.

8. But not to the Drug Industry....
Once they have a cure for diabetes a thousand dollar treatment, but no more drugs of life.... That is a money loser for the drug companies.

2. That's what Bush wants everyone to think, but it's all about money
...there are hundreds of American doctors doing stem cell research in countries right now who are on the verge of revolutionary discoveries that will enrich these companies and also republican controlled investment bankers like the Carlyle Group, the company that Pappy Bush is associated with.

3. instead of 'embryo babies' showing up at whitehouse
perhaps people suffering from diseases that would benefit from cures and their families should be the focus...but that is our modern day media in the Bush years...!

His and this administrations pandering to the Christian right makes me nauseous. :puke:

5.  the GOP followers
the ones bitching about this research would be the "1st" in line if it could help one of their own........also if the religious people want to try and tell the government what to do then their churchs...should be freaking taxed....look at all the money that the government is losing by not taxing this very vocal group......

7. I believe that the fundies want to abandon the Hubble space
telescope for the same reason. They don't want to hear about photographs of events that occurred 14 billion years ago. How would that square with the creationists who believe God created the Universe 4,000 years ago?

9. Science has blown glaring holes through religious beliefs.
Edited on Wed May-25-05 07:31 PM by Robin Hood
I believe that this current attack from the religious nut jobs is only a desperate attempt at preventing the inevitable. The cat is out of the bag, and he says that belief is not enough to ease the suffering of humanity. Ignorance is not bliss.

How much suffering has science cured? Now, How much suffering has religion cured?
