1. WTF?
What rights? To do whatever the hell he wants? Hatch needs to read that oath he took when he was elected - he's forgotten why the Senate exists. Dumbass.

2. underlying theme is that the democrats
aren't keeping the "gentleman's agreement" so they have to be reigned in. Minority is trying to usurp power.

4. He's an unctious, lying f*ck!
He equates any minority rights as a hijacking. Despite the Senate Reichbots voting 2703-1 in favor of every Bushoilini nominee, he pretends the Reichbots are somehow a "check" or "balance" - he must mean "blank check" and "imbalance."

5. Turned off the sound.
In an effort to keep my head from exploding, I can no longer listen to these power-insane lunatics.

They will pull the trigger. If a miracle happens and the Dems win, which I fear will *not* happen, the repugs will take a severe and lasting hit. With luck on the voting we will win enough votes in 2006 that their lying and cheating will not be able to overcome it. Goodness willing.

But I do not think that's what will happen. They will succeed tomorrow. Then, we will be forced into our only option, an obstruction which will be portrayed as such by the repugs. They will come close to winning the public debate on this issue. The repugs will pull the trigger on legislative filibusters and Bush will rule by decree.

After a brief two centuries, it'll be over.

6. What about the rights of the 48% who didn't vote for his sorry ass?
Thank God Dean mentioned that on MTP yesterday -- this jackass is delusional and thinks he REALLY has a mandate. GRRRRRRRRRR!

12. well if you think about it in terms of total population...
~21% of the population voted for chimp so the question is "what about the rights of the other 79% who didn't vote for his sorry ass?"

8. Hatch thinks that only the majority has the right to advise and consent
regarding the President's nominations.

"The Senate rules will not change (if we go nuclear)."

OMG. He is a lying bastard.

"The constitution gives authority to the majority and to the presiding officer not the Senate."

Now he's calling it "the Byrd Option." Damn him to hell.

9. His arrival in the Senate gave rise to a new term - "Orrinating".
Whenever anyone (senate member, house memeber, hill worker/staffer, whtie house staffer, reporter, etc) from either side of the isle yaps on and on and says nothing he or she is told to stop Orrinating.

I live in North Carolina and have used the expression for many, many years with my freinds and co-workers. Actually heard it originally from a friend who worked for a U.S. Senator (D).

10. He's doing "The Gonzalez Maneuver" on this change of rules...
He's basically trying to say that what they are doing is not wrong at all...

'See? Byrd broke a fillibuster! What we're doing is just like Byrd!' Except Byrd's move, as I understand it, was a Parlimentary proceedural change.

Except what they want to do is change the Senate RULES!! (at least as I get this whole confusing mess!)

(yells to board)Do we have a Parlimentarian on hand!?? lol

Urine, give us ALL a break and ... go throw your tantrum in your office, not on the Senate floor. This guy is a gasbag just about to explode.

14. Hatch is despicable.
He has always considered the Judiciary his own private fiefdom.

An ego the size of an entire branch of government.
