Trent Lott pissed at Dobson calls him Unchristian

"James Dobson: Who does he think he is, questioning my conservative credentials?" Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., said in an interview. Dobson, head of the conservative group Focus on the Family, criticized Lott for his efforts to forge a compromise in the fight over the judges. Lott is still angry. "Some of his language and conduct is quite un-Christian, and I don't appreciate it," the senator said.

The tent isn't big, Trent. The don't believe in tolerance. Heck, they don't believe in democracy. But why are you surprised?

8. Hey Trent!
Looks who's running your party!

Frist is Dobson's fella and you're yesterday's news to them. The Fristians are in complete control. Right?

How does it feel? You're of no consequence to them and Frist may be on his way to running for President on 2008.

They have successfully trivialized you Trent. Your vote here doesn't count.

You know...there is ONE way you could assert some independence...but you wouldn't want to do that would you? Just a thought Trent...

Otherwise, get in line, shut your mouth, and do what you're told!

Who does Dobson think he is? He does need to prove his conservative credentials. Lott is a conservative but why is he scared of proving he is a Christian.

"I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!"

"Why shouldn't I?" he said.

I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"

He said, "Like what?"

I said, "Well, are you religious or atheist?"

He said, "Religious."

I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"

He said, "Christian."

I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"

He said, "Protestant."

I said, "Me too!"

Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?

He said, "Baptist!"

I said, "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?

He said, "Baptist Church of God!"

I said, "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?"

He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God!"

I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?"

He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915!"

I said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off."

20. I figure
that these Talibornigans will start biting the hand that feeds them, so to speak. It looks like it is beginning.

The way they are going there will be only about 5 Senators who will pass their smell test.

DObson is such a jerk. I used to really hate it when he was given any air time. But not he feels all emboldened and it out there spewing his venom and "Christian values" and offending the likes of Trent Lott.

Who said irony was dead?

21. Tme for a big dinner party that seats Lott next to Jim "Dachau" Dobson.
And if possible, serve each something he's allergic to, but disguise it in something else.

I really don't like either one of these people so I kinda hope they beat the shit out of each other in a fistfight.

Loot is NOT a conservative to these people. Barry Goldwater lost this fight and Lott will continue to lose it also...we are going right and theocratic... theofascism on the rise...

Yep, Barry LOST this fight bigtime...

"However, on religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both.

I'm frankly sick and tired of thepolitical preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.'

Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every
religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of 'conservatism.'

25. Trent is at heart
is probably the leftmost of the conservative republicans. As someone who grew up respecting him as my Senator, his greatest goal in life is bringing home lots of bacon. Second to that, he is a follower of the Reagan era of politics, not the Bush era. Keep in mind that Reagan was a LOT more liberal than the current Senators.

Finally, I know everyone here thinks he's one step removed from wearing a white sheet, but I think your probably wrong. Trent Lott probably has some offensive thought patterns, but I just can't believe he's a White Sheet wearing KKK wannabe. Besides being one of the biggest white voices for the integration of Olemiss (he was student president at the time and walked with James Merideth), he has had a major influence on integrating his fraternity at Olemiss. Yea, he's said some offensive things, but he's done some good.

Final note, as Chairman of the rules committee, he controls the Senate calender and debate. No bill can pass without his ok, so he has a lot of influence still.

27. I agree with you
However, we can see the direction of the Senate by looking at its leaders over the years. Bob Dole, who seemed to work on compromises more than divisive legislation, then Trent Lott, who definitely leaned toward the religious-right but could still compromise once in a while, and now Bill Frist, whose motto seems to be "My way or the highway".

I'm sure the pendulum will swing back toward moderation again. Let's hope that tomorrow is the beginning of that movement.
