Check out this nonsense!

http://pptkids.org/index.php

I can't believe that anyone would go to these lengths to try and brainwash their kids! Your tax dollars at work, presumably. Oy Vey! What next, "GWB Peace Force Good Guy action figureine, with evil-doer-slaying laser goggles?"

Anyone who subjects their kids to this should have their parental rights terminated.

7. Barf
it got worse down the page when they want kids to pray for the head of the ATF and Office of Drug Control Policy. Those were poor choices for pics, even though they are probably the offical ones.

27. ...and to pray for the Drug Czar personally...
... in the same paragraph as the ONDCP. "As you pray for John Walters, remember to ask God to give him great wisdom, to help him in his daily work, and pray that God will work to defeat all the forms of evil that make people turn to drugs."...................................................................I need something to relieve the PAIN!

8. Come to think of it...
If this is Federally funded, it would appear to be a clear-cut violation of the prohibition against governmental endorsement of a specific faith. There are several Bible verses, and I sure as hell didn't see even a wee snippet of Qu'ranic verse or Bhagavad Gita. I would welcome input from anyone who is more well-versed in Constitutional Law than I.

9. I really mess with these guys
When the PPT (Presidential Prayer Team- the grownup version) offers premiums- dog tags, caps, mugs, etc., I actually order them. They ask for "donations" of $25, $50 and up and I pledge $1 and get my stuff every time. To undestand the enemy and seee just howw wacked they can be this site is worth an occasional look (aaaack!)

Almost certainly there's no use of tax dollars at work in this stupidity. It's still stupid, but private sector stupidity is protected by the First Amendment.

11. There should be several more such webpages.
One for Christians, one for Protestants, one for Mormons, and one for Christ-killers. And that's just for starters. I see it's an .org rather than a .gov website, so it presumably is NOT on the Taxpayer Dime. Perhaps.

Disclaimer:

The Presidential Prayer Team for Kids is a division of The Presidential Prayer Team (www.presidentialprayerteam.org), a nonprofit, charitable organization. The Presidential Prayer Team is not affiliated with, nor does it receive funding from, any political party or office of the government

Yet, the Presidential seal is on the top?

Can anyone that knows how to do these things find out who owns this website?

Might be interesting to....follow the money.

21. I think that meant "help the Prez w/His (God's wisdom)"
At the end of the site they reference Bible verses that talk about praying for the leaders of our country. Gee...ya think they ever did that during the Clinton years? Just a wild guess, but I'd say no. Shame on these people for being so blatantly obvous and leading kids down this ugly path. I constantly shudder at the damage they are doing to the gospel of Christ, who they claim is their Lord and Saviour. He must be weeping!

Thanks for the ref to the other post in the Lounge. I'll check it out.

25. What's wrong with encouraging kids to pray?
especially for peace? Does prayer hurt? Does it corrupt?

BTW - "The Presidential Prayer Team for Kids is a division of The Presidential Prayer Team (www.presidentialprayerteam.org), a nonprofit, charitable organization. The Presidential Prayer Team is not affiliated with, nor does it receive funding from, any political party or office of the government."

So no, my tax dollars are not involved. Flame bait.

28. What's wrong with encouraging kids to pray?
It does hurt, because it teaches kids that they are not really in control of their lives, a mythical wonder-God with a chess-player plan for everyone and everything is. It also teaches kids that the best way to effect change in the world is by offering magical incantations to God, rather than working on their own behalf to improve the world. By getting kids hooked on the prayer thing, it becomes much eaiser to convince them that Party X is "performing God's Will" when they are older. Finally, I would submit that offering praise and blessings on those who have done so much harm to their fellow man, i.e. Bush and Co., teaches kids that it's A-OK to do terrible, unspeakable things, as long as you ask for forgiveness from said mythical chess-player God. Would you consider praying for Osama Bin Laden? Just for the record, it's NOT OK to do evil, and I highly doubt that forgiveness is given out as readily as "W04" stickers are. I am not an atheist or agnostic; I have my own personal theology, but unlike these evangelical individuals, I make every effort to keep it to myself.

And as far as the tax-dollars thing, I freely admit that I stand corrected. This is a privately funded overzealous enterprise.

30. I don't care about your personal faith
in the sense that it doesn't mater to me if you have faith in a God or not.

But all of your assumptions of prayer being harmful are predicated by your assumption that there is no God, that religion is myth and prayer is magic, and that belief in a God equates to mental slavery.

Of course you know that just because YOU believe such things does not make them true.

And the way that your present your ideas...its seems as if you are just a flame looking to ignite the fire.

I say you have some serious anti-religion issues to work through. So much hatred is not healthy.

Nothing wrong with that. Not my cup of tea, but not particularly offensive.
