Today, I'm DAMN proud to be a Democrat.
Edited on Wed May-18-05 06:10 PM by blondeatlast
I'm proud of the crew in Washington, fighting the good fight against a formidable opponent, using every weapon they have, calling out the cheats, the hypocrites, and the new Pharisees.

I'm proud that they are risking their political necks in the interest of the nation and democracy.

I was born and raised a yellow dog, went with mom and dad when they volunteered, always supported my party, even when they disappointed me.

Today, I am bursting with Democratic pride.

4. I am too...
...but this kind of thing isn't surprising in my great state of Texas, where Dems aren't afraid to fight back. Man I love Texas politics.

5. I've been saying for a long time...
...that if Democrats would run on moral authority, America would respond with landslides. Everything that's good about America is with us. Workers' rights, civil liberties, true family issues, stewardship of the earth, living wage...everything.

'These people would vote for a democrat if they ran an old yellow dog'

29. As opposed to "second coming Republicans"
meaning: they wouldnt vote for a Democrat if he came down from heaven with trumpets playing.

9. I am a proud Democrat everyday
regardless of the performance, or lack thereof, by the Democrats in Washington, my state house (Ohio) or my local community.

My pride in being a Democrat comes from knowing that my party is fundamentally in support of the poor, the middle class, the minorities, the disabled and all other groups that need protecting within and without our society.

My Democratic pride comes from the acts of giants of American history like FDR, JFK and Jimmy Carter to name a few.

And yes, my Democratic pride also comes from the principled stance that Democrats are taking in the Senate today.

God Bless America and the Democratic party that loves her and defends her principles.

11. proud and grateful...
Our Dems are out there today trying to avoid the American version of the Reichstag fire, and they're being far more tough than we've seen in some time. You can tell that it's gotten to the point where enough is enough - if this carries, the Senate will be not only diminished but dangerous.

18. Absolutely. No retreat, no surrender.
It's amazing the tyranny 51% (supposedly) can have over 49%!!

If there's such a thing as karma or divine justice, these Republican greed-monsters will rue the day they stepped over the last line of decency.

I've had C-SPAN on all day. How passionate our leaders are.

I couldn't help but chuckle when Hutchinson tried to look teary eyed over her story about Owens.

23. Me Three! Proud of our Democrats.
We all need to support them right now like never before. If we can make it through all of this, I think our Dem's will be better then ever.

I got a kick out of Frist making a "fool" of himself, stumbling on his own words while speaking like his Commander-and-Thief!

"Uh... Well... Wel, uh..." When countered by a Democrat (can't remember his name) that it was Frist that voted for a Fillibuster not long ago.

28. Me too! for those who haven't seen it look up the congressional record
for May 12th and read in it's entirety the exchange between Reid, Byrd and Frist, it is too classic. Reid and Byrd set up Frist and he took the bait, hook, line and sinker. It is a great example of giving someone enough room to hand themselves. Frist ends up looking even more of a fool than he did to start and that is saying something.

This link is for THOMAS to search the Congressional Record: in the search fields highlight Byrds name, and pick the box labeled "Senate Section", then highlight "On or after" and put 5/12/05 in the date area. it runs from page S5029-S5035

30. "Please tell me reasons why I shouldn't join a third party"
"And BE SPECIFIC", they ask.

Well, looky at the dems standing up to repubs who would eliminate the right to privacy, economic regulation, pollution controls, and civil rights as unconsitutional.

Look. Look. Look
