Jim Leach (R) Iowa is a "true" conservative ?
I heard on C-SPAN this AM that he was co-sponsor with David Obey (D) of Wisconsin to offer a bill to require oversight of all the money spent in Iraq and the Defense Dept. Like a true conservative, he was concerned about wasting taxpayer dollars. Why can't Repubs nominate a true conservative for President?? (Maybe he will run as an Independent? :) )

1. He's very moderate.
In fact, he was one of 6 Republicans in the House to vote against the Iraq war resolution. One of the few decent Republicans left.

2. Good for him...
It is awfully nice to see sanity rear its head on either side of the isle.

Leach is simply doing his job. These days that's a lot!

3. leach is an old school republican.
he is one of the few left that actually represent the people in his district not the national party. he`ll never become an independent because his district is mostly republican with many democrats voting for him.

4. Leach is moderate due to his district
He only casts "good votes" when an issue is already decided. Otherwise he votes with the administration and for the leadership of Hastert and Delay. He is in a Democratic district and he wins due to his power of incumbency. I have heard that Iowa's First Lady may try to run against him to get this seat back in the hands of the forces of good, not evil.

5. Leach is a true conservative Republican. He opposes theocrats and fascism.
He was one of the few Republicans to speak out against the coziness of the GOP with RevMoon. He warned them years ago to get out of their bed with RevMoon.

6. The description of him as a moderate may be true, but
he was an early proponent of impeaching Clinton. His situational moderation gave early credibility to the coup attempt of the radical right. Just so the entire record is known.
