Email alert from Dr. Falwell! Email alert from Dr. Falwell!
A SPECIAL ALERT TO FALWELL CONFIDENTIAL READERS

From: Jerry Falwell
Date: May 3, 2005

Through the outrageous use of a U.S Senate filibuster, a hostile Democratic minority is actively blocking any type of up or down vote on President Bush’s federal judge nominees.

President Bush has fulfilled his Constitutional obligation by nominating experienced jurists to empty federal judgeships — but the U.S. Senate has failed to do its duty to “advise and consent” with the president on his nominees.

Through Liberty Alliance and The Moral Majority Coalition, I am asking hundreds of thousands of Americans to add their name immediately to a CITIZEN WORK ORDER which demands that the Senate carry out its sacred duty and proceed with a full floor vote on the president’s judicial nominees.

I urge you to add your name to this CITIZEN WORK ORDER http://www.moralmajority.us/cwo/ right now and then forward this e-mail directly to other friends and associates on your e-mail address list. We must create a nationwide groundswell of outrage immediately that will shake the stodgy U.S. Senate into action now.

Until this stalemate is resolved, much of the important business of the Senate – homeland security, economic and tax reform, saving traditional marriage and religious freedom – will languish.

The recent “death order” imposed on Terri Schiavo by an unaccountable judge has brought public attention to the incredible power of judges.

No longer are the three branches of government equal. The balance of power has swung heavily toward runaway federal courts.

That is why liberal senators like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Hillary Rodham Clinton are holding the president’s nominees hostage –- refusing to even allow an up or down floor vote.

What can be done to end this JUDICIAL TRYANNY? I have two answers.

In the long run, we need to educate and train an army of future lawyers and judges with a Christian world view. This is exactly what we are doing with the new Liberty University School of Law. ( http://www.nljonline.com/staver.htm )

But right now, we must demand that the U.S. Senate carry out the work assigned by the U.S. Constitution and allow an up-or-down vote on every one of President Bush’s stalled judicial nominees.

That is why I urge you to immediately add your name to our CITIZEN WORK ORDER http://www.moralmajority.us/cwo/ which will be sent to YOUR two U.S. senators. It lets your senators know that you, as one of their own voting constituents are watching their every move.

Your CITIZEN WORK ORDER demands that YOUR senators DO THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to “advise and consent” with the president on his judicial nominees.

Let’s tell every U.S. Senator to “Vote them up or down — but vote!”

In addition, I am hoping you can place a gift of $100 (that’s only $1 per U.S. Senator) or even $50, $25 or even $15 to Liberty Alliance on your credit or debit card today. https://falwellsecure.com/libertyalliance/

Your gift will help us monitor and EXPOSE the actions of activist judges...alert thousands of citizens through national television, the monthly National Liberty Journal Newspaper and my weekly Falwell Confidential e-mail newsletter ... challenge 200,000 pastors to get involved in this battle.

It’s high time the U.S. Senate fulfilled its constitutional responsibility and voted up-or-down on President Bush’s judicial nominees.

If you can help us with a gift of at least $15 or more, https://falwellsecure.com/libertyalliance/ I will send our new edition of the handy Pocket U.S. Constitution. This pocket Constitution will be indispensable for anyone who is tired of hearing about the liberal’s “interpretation” of the Constitution.

With your own pocket Constitution you can easily reference for yourself the simplicity of this amazing document that has guided our nation so well for more than two centuries.

Help me put pressure on the Senate by adding your name to our CITIZEN WORK ORDER http://www.moralmajority.us/cwo/ along with your gift of $100 — that’s only $1 per senator. If you cannot send this much, please send at least $50, $25 or even $15 to help in this battle.

Jeez, he covers everything from judges to Terri Schiavo to Hillary to fundraising!

Schmuck.

I wonder if it says the same thing as the real constitution?

It could be the NIV edition that has been "translated."

Free the people from the burdens imposed upon us by the new oppressive King George. We want our original constitution back. No paraphrasing, no rewrites to include Jesus, no translations, we just want the original.

2. Only 2 things really - Fear and fundraising, you can't get much of
the cashola unless you scare em properly first. Hilary is going to snatch your Christian babies and bring them up to be queers and the runaway judges are going to enforce it. Dig deep and give generously. Amen

That is certainly enough to pull his tax exempt status.
He is actively working for the Republican party.

Who has the power to enforce the tax code?

runaway federal courts

They are not running anywhere, that is his problem. They are standing up for what is the law and that is also his problem.

He wants only puppet judges who will do exactly as the neo-cons tell him.

11. Either Falwell's really stupid, or . . .
He surely thinks the sheep of the flock he's so busy fleecing are really stupid:

"The recent 'death order' imposed on Terri Schiavo by an unaccountable judge has brought public attention to the incredible power of judges.

"No longer are the three branches of government equal. The balance of power has swung heavily toward runaway federal courts."

First off, the judges who ruled in the Schiavo case were state court judges, not federal judges. When DeLay and Frist tried their grandstand play of involving the federal courts in a case where they didn't have jurisdiction, the federal courts wisely declined to get involved -- unlike a similar situation originating in Florida four years ago.

Second, is Falwell saying that the public has just figured out that judges have power in our system? Well no duh, Durward. Judges, just like Presidents and Congressmen, are authorized by the Constitution to hold and wield power. I'm surprised that Jerry didn't know this before. Maybe he should actually consult those pocket Constitutions he's hawking.

But my feeling is that old Jerry fully knows all this; he's counting on his marks not to know it, and that they'll put their money where their lack of brains is.

What a huckster. I'd really like to see this letter billboarded on Crossfire, and have Novakula and the conservative guest challenged to either sign on 100% with Brother Jerry or denounce his dishonest and disingenuous bullshit.

15. Send the Immoral Minority this via their contact page
http://www.falwell.com/?a=contact

Below is a letter I recently sent to the Family Research Council, headed by FRC President Tony Perkins. I sent this in a reply to an email I received from the FRC re: the recent "Justice Sunday", more accurately known as "Just Us Sunday" or "Injustice Sunday". It seems the FRC believes the filibuster should be eliminated so that radical judges with very pro-business, anti-environment, and anti-civil rights stances can be appointed to lifetime Federal courts. It seems, however, that the FRC, and many GOP Senators, have forgotten they once supported the filibuster. Here's my reply to them; I thought you might be interested in reading it.. Sure would be nice to see exposure of their hypocrisy in the mainstream media!

To whom it may concern,

I am curious as to why preventing filibusters are so important right now. I mean, a mere 7 years ago your organization was in support of them:

http://talkleft.com/new_archives/010459.html

In 1998, then-Senior FRC Writer and Analyst Steven Schwalm, appeared on NPR's Talk of the Nation and had this to say about the filibuster against James Hormel, President's Clinton's ambassadorial nominee:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...the Senate is a -- is not a majoritarian institution like the House of Representatives is. It is a deliberative body and it's got a number of checks and balances built into our government. This is one of those checks, in which a majority cannot just sheerly force its will, even if they have a majority of votes in some cases, that's why there are things like filibusters and other things that give minorities in the Senate some power to slow things up, to hold things up, and let things be aired properly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also,

Analysis: Frist flip-flopped on filibusters (MSNBC)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7518425
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1999 and 2000, before he became majority leader, Frist was one of the Republican senators blocking President Clinton's nominee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Richard Paez.

Frist and others repeatedly prevented a vote on the Paez nomination. In 1999, Frist and 52 other Republicans voted against a motion to proceed to a vote on Paez.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this:

http://www.swingstateproject.com/2005/04/sen_isakson_rga.php#comments
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Senator Isakson on the floor of the United States Senate extolling the virtues of the filibuster to protect the rights of the minority from being overrun by the majority.

"Don't you fear that the Shi'ites inevitably being in the majority, that you will be overrun? And he says, 'oh no, we have a secret weapon.' Mr. President, this is a Kurdish leader, in the middle of Iraq in the 21st century who said he had a secret weapon. And when asked what it was, he said one word, 'filibuster'" <...>

"It is one of their minority leaders, proudly stating one of the pillars and principles of our government, as the way they would ensure that the majority never overran the minority."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would you like to see the video of Sen. Isakson?

http://reid.senate.gov/video/isakson.mov

So, now all of a sudden filibusters are a *bad* thing because they go against *your* political agenda?

Jesus had no use for hypocrites.

You and your organization defile the name of Christ.

Disgustedly yours,
