and everything else and then lost by something like 3.5 percent. Do you fellow Ohioans think that Taft is so universally disliked that there will be some kind of reverse coat-tail effect? That is, this time around, having an incompetent, unpopular, Republican-dominated- everything in power in the state could help the Dems in the national election? I do.

And the lifting of the steel tariffs is gonna hurt Bush too.

It's a pity, really. Ohio would have given him the Electoral College by a comfortable majority.

I'm also an Ohioan and I agree with your statement that Ohio could be our most important state this year. We've lost over 230,000 jobs since Bush took office and even more people are now underemployed without benefits. The state is a mess....

Gore starting pulling out of Ohio about a month before the election and lost by 3.5 points. It's a winnable state as long as volunteers stay motivated and we have enough money.

hasn't swung much in the past several elections and the dems have control of governor's seat... -- I just heard the unemployment rate here is 7.2% and RISING. Jobs are apparently being lost...

I think the party should worry as much or more about once solid dem. states in the great lakes region -- Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin in particular...and Ohio as well...

This is really a region hurt pretty badly by Bush's economic policies.

I would say this will be an extremely difficult election and we should be ready for the dirtiest slime Rove can come with, armed with the media...

We sort of have a piece of each region in our state. It's even reflected culturally. That's probably why we have been choosing the president for decades. Although, last time we weren't accurate (MO went to Bush).
