3. All of the yellow ribbon magnets I see are faded now,

just like the hopes of bringing our soldiers home.

The ribbons are now the color of the sheets that cover corpses. I wonder if the people driving the cars with these stickers notice they aren't yellow any more.

6. I'm willing to wager...

I'm willing to wager that 90% of the people with the ribbons on their cars, don't even understand the meaning behind them.

I talked to an acquaintance, and she had no idea what the idea of "tieing a yellow ribbon around a tree" was. She had 4 ribbons on her car, and didn't know why. She just saw everyone else had them, and said: "Me too!"

So I highly doubt most of these people would understand your point about the fading ribbons.
