Rep Bernie Sanders scares off main opponent....Gov too smart to run
against him...Facing nearly certain defeat, Vermont governor Jim Douglas announced today he would not challenge socialist congressperson Bernie Sanders for the senate seat being vacated by Jim Jeffords.

No one else in Vermont can take on Bernie...This senator is our next Wellstone, a progressive of intelligence, wit and competence!

1. damn Vermont is sooo cool
Sanders in the Senate...a Godsend!

Not only is he dead on with so many issues...

he's cool too with his online flash movies spelling out the overview
to educate.

I'll buy your cheese I'll buy your maple syrup, thank you Vermont!

2. So will this be uncontested
then or will they put up someone just because?

Since they only have one rep he's been running statewide all along, there's no way anyone else could win this.

4. Certainly the Republicans will run someone....likely their Lt Gov Dubie
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 06:06 PM by Rowdyboy
(no shit, Dubie is his name) and maube some wacked-out Dem ex-state representative will run, but Sanders is so well liked in Vermont that no one other than Gov Douglas was expected to offer him a serious challenge.

9. Running as an independent so far as I have heard...
I wish he'd run for the Dem nomination, but I believe he refuses to do that.
