Budget: ALL DEMOCRATS + Chafee, Voinivich, and Dewine voted NAY.
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 06:38 PM by Clarkie1
Except for Lieberman, who did not vote.

So, the party held together with a strong voice of opposition, and three Republicans did the right thing in this case and joined us in opposition to this fiscally and morally irresponsible budget.

Any senator or representative who voted for this budget voted for the RIGHT-WING EXTREMIST AGENDA.

Anyone thanking Chafee, Voinivich, and Dewine for their bipartisanship on this?

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00114

In the House ALL DEMOCRATS (except for 7 not voting) voted nay, along with 15 Republicans.

Wait! something just occured to me, IF THOSE 7 DEMOCRATS HAD VOTED NAY, THE BUDGET WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED! :-(

My Repug representative, Pombo (CA-11) voted yea, and I am composing my letter to the editor tonight. ANY REPRESENTAIVE OR SENATOR WHO VOTED FOR THIS BUDGET IS A RIGHT-WING EXTREMIST. WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AND CALL THEM ON IT!

2. Bush defunded NASA's John Glenn labs in Ohio. BAD MOVE for any Ohioan.
Alot of great research came from there and its a source of great pride. Almost akin to Modell moving the Browns to Baltimore. Ohio WILL fight back.

So much for NASA. I remember reading that they want to control space. Does anybody know about that? John Glenn is great!

12. They are also closing one of the largest payroll processing
department for the Dept of Defense located here in Cleveland.

It doesn't stop there...

Add NASA, the DOD Defense cut, the downsizing of the Cincinnati IRS center and you have to wonder how this sate went for Bush last time....

Voinovich is kind of weird politically. He comes from the inner city of Cleveland and was raised by immigrant parents, much the same type of history as DK. Both are Roman Catholic and both are former mayors of Cleveland.

Dewine is up for reelection in 2006 and I am sure he voted against the budget to cover his ass. He is such a spineless creature of the GOP that I am sure they arranged it so that he could vote against the budget with no harm coming to the party as a whole.

George is starting to surprise me. Voting with the Dem's on the UN and against the budget. I almost considered voting for him for the first time this last election since it is obviously his last time out just as a reward for all the good things he has done over the years, A lot of bad, but I was feeling nostalgic. Then he ran this horrible attack add against Eric Fingerhut who had no money and was behind by at least 20 % in the polls. That pissed me off. Why go out on such a sour note. I vote Fingerhut.

8. Good question
considering that all his Republicans CT counterparts in the House voted against the budget.

Here are the dems that were no show in the house:

Clyburn
Doggett
Filner
Ford
Jefferson
Rothman
Towns.

9. "If those 7 Democrats had voted nay"
"the budget would not have passed"

Not necessarily. It is likely that 8 of those 15 republicans would have been arm twisted to vote yes if they were needed.

It doesn't excuse not voting. Barring a real emergency, representatives need to be there to do their freakin' jobs. But it is very unlikely that the outcome would have changed.

11. it's hard to find good cat herders
I haven't seen the numbers myself, but the OP says that no Democrats voted for the bill and seven didn't vote. It's hard for me to believe someone else could do better, especially considering how outnumbered we are.
