2. My gripe with Nancy Grace has always been
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 01:32 AM by Sandpiper
That she has a personal vendetta against anyone accused of a crime.

And considering she was reprimanded by the Georgia Supreme Court for prosecutorial misconduct, no, I don't think my assessment of her was wrong.

3. most of the complaints against Nany Grace has nothing to do with Politics
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 01:34 AM by JI7
even if she was a democrat most of the complaints against her would still apply.

4. I still say Nancy Grace is the face of a victim a decade later. When
the grieving is all done and a victim has been steeled by fire.

We see the victims all the time in sock when it it newsworthy.

People change after great pain and they are very discerning with who they trust or who they will empathize with.

I don't watch her show because 1) I don't get it

2) I got tired of seeing victim after victim on TV.

I think most crime victims end up more 'law & order' after. It is normal.

5. Grace is from my home town
Believe me there are dozens of women here just like here. She is an over dramatic Southern woman who seems to love being in a constant state of drama. Her work as a prosecutor in Atlanta was good but it gave her that constant prosecutor's mindset. Mix that with a bitchy Southern chick and watch out! I've heard her speak publicly and she was very mellow so I really think it is mostly a TV thing. Most Southern girls are cool and I love one dearly but they can be very feisty at times. Nancy Grace is an example of what my Dad calls a poor Southern girl who finds wealth and fame, a woman with painted on eyebrows and a pissy attitude. But she is from here so I guess we are proud of a local chick making good.
As far as her politics, she is probably a Democrat; judging from statements she made at the event I saw her at she is no fan of the way the country is heading but being from Georgia and being a Democrat is a very unpopular position to find one's self in these days. I can relate! All in all Nancy is just Nancy but a very over-exaggerated Nancy on TV.

12. I'm a Nancy. I'm a Democrat and I live in Georgia.
And I don't find myself in an unpopular position.

6. Nancy Grace
does tend to take the prosecution's side because she used to be a prosecutor. She never wanted to be a defense attorney because that wasn't her calling.

After her fiance was murdered she became an outspoken victim's advocate with very little sympathy with criminals. Most of the people she has covered were convicted of the crimes they were on trial for and when she hosted Court TV she would argue back and forth with defense attorneys who would take the side of the defendants. Sometimes she would be the only one on the air advocating for the victim.

She stood up for Bill Clinton when he was being beat up by the media and the Republicans during the impeachment trials. I watched it from beginning to end and Nancy was one of the best spokespersons for the legal issues at that time.

7. it is an ugly character flaw to seek to punish instead of pursuing truth
i have seen the woman on tv once or twice and if i met her i would have to be restrained from breaking my foot off in her ass.

8. Amen! To say that Nacy Grace has "issues" is an understatement.
I have pondered on just what those issues might be but to know avail :D

9. She's a gossip columnist, not a newscaster
She's a cheap and trashy shit slinger. I gave her a chance and she has turned out to be one of the worst of the talking heads. It's a clear attempt to appeal to the "Southern" voters and it shows just how desparate CNN is.

15. They would appeal more to THIS Southern female voter if
they'd seek out the truth instead of putting whiney and/or bitchy stereotypes of educated Southern (and other regions) females on their roster.

I don't watch Nancy Grace because she's shrill, she's biased and she's on opposite Keith Olbermann, who DOES try to seek out the truth.

My only problem with Nancy Grace is that she seem to set on convicting Micheal Jackson.

11. I don't have any major gripes w/ Nancy, she's just a crime-info-tainment
media personality. I think people are spending too much time and energy hating her, while letting the more dangerous phony right wing political pundits, like NBC's Andrea Mitchell get away with entirely too much.

13. Good point...
...she's really more spectacle than anything else. You are absolutely right when you mention people like Andrea Mitchell, I'd lump Leslie Blitzer right in there as well.
BTW, I have heard Nancy Grace state a number of times that she was in favor of reasonable gun control measures.

14. I could care less what
Her political leanings are, because her show has little do with politics. My main gripe with her is that she doesn't believe in Innocent Until Proven Guilty as she's never met anyone charged with a crime whom she didn't think was guilty. I remember watching her show after Robert Blake was exhonnerated, it was great because it was so difficult for her to hide her anger with that court ruling.
