MSNBC TV...clark inconsistent in planned parenthood questionnaire
according to msnbc, clark was given a questionnaire by planned parenthood. his responses were so inconsistent that they asked him
for clarification as to which answers he wanted to claim. his reported answer was 'which ones would you like"

the reporter said this was early in the campaign and clark had obviously not spent much time thinking through the core democratic principles yet.

13. and, why would he have to ask what the answers were?
would you be stumped by a position questionnaire by planned parenthood?
would you struggle for answers?

18. Where Does It Say "Stumped" or that he "Struggled"
Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 05:29 PM by cryingshame
it merely said there were inconsistencies.

Like some practising Catholics DO use birth control other than the rhythm method.

Clark is not dogmatic. His mind is not narrow nor does he see things in black & white.

21. how many shades of grey are there in a woman's right to choose
what happened to that statement that life begins with the mother's decision? now he's ok with a late term ban if it contains the woman's health provisio

"In an interview after the news conference, Clark press secretary Jamal Simmons said Clark was reluctant to elaborate because abortion is a complicated legal matter. Simmons said that Clark supports "a woman's right to choose" and that he would back a ban on late-term abortions if it carried an exception for a woman's health.

And in a televised debate last night, when pressed, Clark clarified what he meant: that a woman "has a right to choose pre-viability and after viability"; and that that right "can be constrained by the states but the health of the mother must be protected."

2. Or, maybe the staff person who filled out the questionnaire didn't
do a very good job and it was corrected before it was final.

So?

3. What?
Clark's position is perfectly clear. Please take a look at his National Political Awareness Test:

Clark is cautious when asked his stance on abortion
By Joanna Weiss, Globe Staff, 1/23/2004

snip

Asked when, after conception, he thought life began, Clark said, "I stand with the established federal law, Roe v. Wade and Casey."

Asked which restrictions he supported, Clark said, "I support the established law, Roe v. Wade as modified by Casey."

Asked if he could explain the standards in the law, he said, "I'm not going to go into detail on Roe v. Wade and Casey."

Clark also declined to describe his personal views further. "I'm not going to get into a debate on viability," he said. "Viability is something that's determined by a doctor."

32. Sounds like he supports Roe v. Wade as modified by Casey
Kate Michelman, head of NARAL-Pro-Choice America, said she is satisfied Clark "will not only be a pro-choice candidate but will make it an issue in this campaign" against Bush if he wins the nomination.

"I think what the general is saying is that he supports a woman's right to choose as protected by the law," Michelman said. "We're good to go with Gen. Clark."

5. ask MADD about */dick-less questionnaires. LOL!
Maybe Clark is conflicted on the issue... like millions of Americans.

Your resident and his vice never filled out the MADD forms in 2000, and MADD let them skate! I complained, and they said they wouldn't make an issue of the DRUNK DRIVING CONVICTIONS. I stopped donating to MADD that day.

31. He is NOT all over the place, and since the hairsplitting that the right
is using to make it divisive (my once liberal mother has become very religious conservative now has some anti-abortion beliefs) once again. They know they cannot win on the basic principal, but if they can narrow the debate down to a specific enough scenario, they can create a unattractive enough impression to use it as a wedge issue.

Clark answers, even when "inconsistent", all follow the basic idea that it is a woman's private decision with her doctor and is not favorable to government intervention. Explain what the big deal is?

27. "early in the campaign"?
UGH. Clark has only been a Democrat since Sept. Give the guy a chance to catch up. The Primaries aren't gonna wait for him, however.

I would like to know who your candidate is too, BFITW.
Lots of folks are still undecided or ABB. Do you mind stating your preference for POTUS?
