I've been suspicious for some time that most of the White House
press already knows what Gannon was doing there (or more
importantly who). It's probably some slightly lower level
functionary that no one wants to see hung out to dry. If
this guy was anywhere near someone with clout, he'd a been
on the payroll directly to cover his true role. They'd a
never let him on TV.

....that some of the press corps is compromised with Gannon or others like him. Hell, it's possible that the WH provided him TO the press corps in order to bait them and make them blackmailable.

Gannon visited the WH 9/10/04 11:19 - 12:55 (no briefing).

Two hours later he posts on Free Republic about getting the scoop on the CBS story. Hmmmm.
