The Washington Times is covering for Tom DeLay and deflecting linkage (through lobbyist Jack Abramoff) of DeLay’s ethical lapses to Reed; killing two birds with one stone. If anyone needs reminding, the Washington Times is owned by Sun Myung Moon, one of Ralph Reed’s supporters and benefactors.
Benefactor? Yep. Moon paid Ralph Reed between $80,000 and $150,000 for an appearance he made at a 1996 Family Federation for World Peace event in 1996 at which Moon gave this speech. Other paid evangelical speakers in attendance were Concerned Women for America director Beverly LaHaye and Rev. Robert Schuller (of Crystal Cathedral fame).
The former director of the Christian Coalition’s ties to Georgia’s party of theocracy are clear and current. The state’s Democratic party needs to go after Ralph Reed the instant he announces and take him out. Drawing a line between Reed and Moon would be accurate, and based on Georgia’s recent electoral politics, it would even be fair play.
