4. Hi neighbor!
How can we help? Isn't the Larmie Project about Matt Shepherd?

8. Yes, it is about Matthew Shepherd
It's actaully, I think, about all the controversy after he died and how the town and his family dealt with it. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

9. Laramie Proj.
I was in Laramie at Law School when the whole event happened, and I say the play a few years later. They did a great job capturing the town's emotion and how many dealt with it. Pay especially close attention to the character of the Catholic Priest, Fr. Roger. He is a great man, and they captured his character very well. Hope you like it!

13. He and his "followers"/family were in Louisiana Monday
There was a pretty successful counter protest action with hundreds in attendance. They pretty much ran them off, after making fun of them.

Here's an article about it --> http://www.wwltv.com/local/lafourche/stories/WWL041905antigay.1f391a755.html

Great article. (If you don't want to register, msg me and I'll send you the story.)

2. Virginia - Mark Warner's the buzz, meet-ups too!
Will he challenge George Allen in '06? Should he challenge and fail, will he be out of the running for potential Prez candidate in '08. You know how we love our Dem gov's in Red States!

Meet-up plans for NOVA, DC and MD...!

3. SC State Convention
this weekend. There is an activist training that I won't be able to go to as it starts on Friday at 1pm. But I know individuals in our area that are going so that is good. Training will be Friday and Saturday after the convention. I'm torn between going to the women's breakfast and the progressive caucus breakfast. I guess whichever the females in my County are going to I'll go to the opposite one to make sure we (our County) mingles with as many as possible.

I've never been to a non-election year convention so not too sure what to expect.

6. Better now than later....
state conventions are fun and great experiences in off years.

I think this is where you make yourself known if you want to be a state delegate for a prez convention?

I would love to learn about this process too!

I was a delegate for the last election and got nominated to go to Boston. Fun and exciting and had never participated in it before.

Just got an email that you can attend the Saturday portion of the grassroots campaign session even if you can't attend Friday's so I might do that. Otherwise it just a good opportunity to work with other good dems.

on edit: Oh yeah and the Biden speach will be broadcast on CSpan Friday evening.

11. I am sooooooo jealous....
Closest I came was being a delegate to the California State Convention after Carter's election. I think it was a reward for working so hard on his campaign (lost my district, but we won the state).

I think this was '77, I met then Gov Jerry Brown, Jane Fonda and her then SO Tom Hayden. I'll never forget it.

I figured out then, that one needs to work HARD before elections to go to the BIG ONE :) I still had a blast, but nothing like you must've experienced.

I almost got to go to Boston as a blogger from another dem site, but just couldn't afford it.

12. Well keep on trying!
I think what was going for me was that I was under 30 and they were really trying to get a wide demographic wanting females and under 30 people and also had made real good connections with my county's people and so I got nominated. But still I had to pay for it but I thought it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so pay I did!

Even though SC is a red state it is nice being a dem because it is such a small state and Dems are the minority so you really do get to know and work with notable dems if you try to.

I only moved from California 8 years ago to SC and am positive I would have never had the opportunity to go to Boston if I were still in CA.

5. in Kansas
in Kansas it doesn't seem like there's anything to work on. No election fraud orgs and the state is very red.

7. Surely there's some "gossip" you can share :)
Thanks for posting! I'm sure Kansas has some horses in the '06 race? I'd love to learn more about them.

14. Ooops...hope I didn't confuse this thread with *delegates*
I did mean DUers from these states to check in and let us know what's going on in your state/country forum.

Yikes, didn't mean anyone officially elected! Hope that clears things up, if not, I'll wait awhile and start a new thread!
