"The problem is we're dependent of foregin oil"
No God damnit, it's no! The problem is we're dependent on OIL, period. I don't care where it's from. Is there something special about US oil that it will never run out and cost 99 cents a gallon? It has never been said that drilling in Alaska or anywhere else will eliminate our need for foreign oil, so I don't know why people would think that. I point this out because I think almost everyone that's not on the DU is missing the point entirely when it comes to our energy problem.

4. You're exactly right
If drilling does proceed in ANWR the private for-profit corporation that eventually extracts the resource will be as likely to sell the product in Asia as Alabama.

5. Actually, they have to sell it to Asia
It's not feasible or economically viable to transport that oil to the Lower 48. It is, however, feasible and economically viable to give it to Japan and China.
