1. I agree with you on this. George is not my usual hero --
-- in the Senate but he did the right thing here and we liberals should not be stingy.

Thanks for the post & info.

Keep trying. Try tomorrow, too. He'll be stormed by the flying monkey contingent. We need to push the other way, otherwise he might cave when it really counts.

15. I do, too, K8-EEE. I've posted your thoughtfully-compiled contact
info in SEVERAL threads now. This guy NEEDS to know he did something good. Because there'll be plenty of detractors ready to ream him a new one.

Thanks for your legwork! It's much easier for people to do something at the spur of the moment if the info is conveniently provided to them - then and there.

9. This is what I wrote to him on his webform
"Thank you sir for choosing country over party today in regards to Bolton. This isn't about partisan politics, or it shouldn't be anyway. This is about what's right for this country. Thank you for doing what's right and remembering that it's not the committee's job to be a rubber stamp.

I know you're probably getting alot of flak from certain quarters, but I hope you're getting some kudos from other, perhaps unexpected, quarters.

Thanks again."

Too many thank you's I see now. Eh, too late to edit.

behavior. As a transplanted Hoosier I rarely agreed with him but always believed he was among the more reasonable. But his assessment of the allegations about Bolton are disturbing, and his wish to rush this nomination through is disrespectful to his colleagues.

23. I faxed him, Hagel, and even Allen right away...
here is what I sent Voinovich:

Dear Senator Voinovich,

I am watching you on C-Span, and although I was incensed with your performance on January 6 regarding questioning the Ohio electoral vote, I have gained new respect for you today.

I appreciate your willingness to debate the issues.

Thank you very, very much, and please keep it up!

Respectfully,

XXXXX

24. my (2nd) letter in Regards to Bolton Nomination sent this morning
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 11:05 PM by KaliTracy
to Voinovitch and other Ohio (West Chester Area) Congresspeople (DeWine/Boehner)

"I urge you to look not only to today, but toward the future. Bolton has not effectively shown that he is willing to be a diplomat, only that he wants things his way, especially with the information on how he bullied people about Weapons of Mass Destruction (which, if I'm not mistaken, have yet to be found).

In working with other countries, it's imperative that the US is not antagonistic when other means of discourse can be as, or more, effective. If you truly feel that Bolton's ideology and demeanor will not lead us into a further quagmire of hostilities -- or even confrontations -- with other countries, then by all means, cast your vote without further thought. If you feel that there is even an inkling of possibility that Bolton is not the most effective person for this position, please, vote no. Your constituents are counting on YOUR judgment.

Kind Regards."

I'll write a thank you tonight...

It will stick out better and carry more weight. Photo op style flowers etc might wind up in PR that deflect reports of GOP pressure.

27. I wrote him:
Dear Senator Vionovich,

Thank you for your courageous stand yesterday in regards to the Bolton nomination. Americans need the truth about the nominees that the President (any President) makes.

This shouldn't be about Republicans or Democrats. It should be about doing what is right. You did the right thing yesterday.

Thank you for having the courage to be a true patriot and a true leader for not only the citizens of Ohio but for all Americans.

Thank you again.

29. I just watched yesterday's
entire hearing on the C-Span site. Lugar changed his tune pretty dramatically, but only after Hagel reminded him that to continue to insist on a vote would not allow the nomination to go to the full Senate. I think Lugar might not understand what is happening all the time....

31. Sent my letter:
Dear Senator Voinovich;

Thank you for your decision yesterday to work in the best interest of Americans by supporting the delay of Mr. Bolton's nomination until more information is gathered.

I watched the committee meeting on C-Span yesterday and there are some VERY serious allegations about Mr. Bolton's character and leadership style which must be addressed.

I know yours wasn't a popular move from the Republican party's standpoint, but both Republicans and Democrats must do what's right for the people and not the party.

Thanks again.

36. I wrote and thanked him ...
yesterday for having the courage to do what was right.

Lugar seemed stunned that people were watching ~ I think they have all been living in what they thought was their own private club. I think they are getting a little worried about the public interest now in what they are doing.

Barbara Boxer hasn't received much negative coverage for her stand on Jan. 6. For once, it was a pleasure to watch the hearings yesterday. The Democrats for once, were united and I hope they realize that when they are, things get done, even if they are in the minority. And, it gave Voinovich the courage to do what he did.
