"ARLINGTON WEST" visits New Orleans *pic*
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 04:18 PM by funkybutt
I just got back from visiting this memorial. It was overwhelming! This was the 4th stop on a 10 city tour of college campuses across the country. http://veteransforpeacela.org/map.html

“Arlington West” is a memorial constructed of 1000 tribute replicas of white Crosses, Stars of David, and Crescents and Star, representing the fallen soldiers and marines from the Iraq War and is a visual representation of the human cost of war."

1. Nominated. We need to keep these pictures in front of everyone.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you for the post.

The Veterans for Peace marched in the Patriot's day parade in Concord, MA yesterday. That thread is now in the GD forum on page 14.

The Patriots in Eugene, OR brought the war home to taxpayers who were visiting the IRS center there. That thread is now in the GD forum on page 10.

What do you think? Is it worthwhile to keep these pictures in front of people?

It seems that Bush and his people were right.

4. Thank you!
We are so honored to have Arlington West in Santa Barbara. I'm glad it is on the road so thers can share the enormity of what is happening.

Thank you, Veterans for Peace and all the volunteers who have worked hard to keep this going every Sunday in SB.

5. Nice photo. Is that at UNO or Delgado?
Ah, I see -UNO...which is actually a former military base if I am not mistaken.

6. They have *trees* at UNO?
Man, I have been gone a long time.

UNO was a Naval Air Station, if memory serves. I can remember when the east campus still had a small radar tower in the corner.

7. It's still pretty bare compared to other Universities, but
the trees are starting to fill in and the campus is growing. There are several new buildings and the landscaping has improved.

It's really starting to actually feel like a college campus :)

I also think it's great that they brought that memorial to UNO. Pretty cool considering there are only 10 stops on this tour.
