More members of Congress are responding to the stench of corruption coming from House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's office, and are starting to speak out -- prompting DeLay to reach out publicly in an effort to defend himself. Last week, Campaign for America's Future supporters made nearly a thousand phone calls to their Representatives asking them whether they stood with democracy or DeLay. The results are in and the news for Tom DeLay is sobering.
According to your calls, a mere 20 members of Congress went on the record saying that their Majority Leader is ethically fit to serve. And a whopping 247 members of Congress declined to take a stand, suggesting that they are not confident enough in their Majority Leader to publicly vouch for his character. Of the Representatives who went on record with a clear position, 62 percent said that DeLay was not ethically fit to serve as Majority Leader.

We've also sent a formal request to each member of Congress, echoing the question you asked last week - and pressing them for the answer that you and the rest of their constituents deserve: "Do they believe that Tom DeLay is ethically fit to serve as Majority Leader?"
You can read a copy of the formal request we sent to your Representative here:

Thank you again for all that you do, and stay tuned...
