Fox scum John Gibson defends loyalty screening at Bush rallies
Protecting the President From Nuts

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,153842,00.html

President Bush is getting some flak over the way his people operate those open forums he's doing all over the country in support of his Social Security ideas. These are the same sorts of gatherings that the president used to have during his political campaign and, in fact, they are just a continuation of his political campaign.

Before the election last November, I heard a lot of lip about Bush not allowing people who disagree with him into his campaign forums. Even some Republicans are now saying: "Wait a minute, can he do that? Isn't anybody supposed to be able to see the president?" Well, no. It is the president, after all, and you can't let every nut in to see him. There are safety concerns. But more importantly, who are we kidding? The people who are being denied entry are there to create a scene and try to take the attention away from the president's proposed programs. Does he have to let people in to disrupt him? No, he doesn't.

So how are his people figuring out who the disruptors are? Well, an attorney is representing three of them who were kicked out of a March 21st event and are now suing. Now the fact is that under their business suits they were wearing T-shirts that said, "Stop the Lies" or some such, but they assured the Bush hall monitors that they had changed their mind about ripping open their business shirts to reveal the "Stop the Lies" shirts underneath. So, they had planned to do it, but decided not to. Yeah, right. And how were they noticed in the first place? The Secret Service saw a bumper sticker on their car that said, "No Blood for Oil." OK, let's see: You run around with a bumper sticker that says the Iraq invasion was an oil grab at the expense of the lives of U.S. troops, you're wearing T-shirts saying Bush lies and you think you have a right to attend one of the president's events?

Why doesn't he just hand out tomatoes so you can throw those at him too? Why doesn't he hand out megaphones so you can all yell louder than his P.A. system? Better yet, why doesn't he walk out on stage and say, "My critics are right"? Dream on and go find a Howard Dean rally.

Aren't taxpayers paying for these masturbatory events?
Seriously, is Bush financing these trips out of the RNC? If not, then he should have to hold actual discussions and deal with the possibility of -- gasp! -- actual differing opinions, not these ego-massages with fellow fascists.

had no qualms about letting anybody near, even those who had protest signs or tshirts. Please enlighten us with your great wisdom.

8. Were any Democrats at all allowed to hear the pResident?
I guess they always know the thoughts of the opposition and will react pre-emptively to prevent anyone from saying something the pResident does not like. Thought Crimes that the GOP has railed against so often seem to be their stock and trade now. If they think you are thinking about speaking out you will be detained... New Amerika Love it or Leave it...

9. if they ever make a movie "DUMB MAN WALKING"
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 09:33 AM by ooglymoogly
it will be based on john gibson, lying, treacherous, treasonous propagandist extraordinare, selling the country for forty pieces of silver; it will be directed by his equally brain challenged namesake mel and will be 1hr and 80 mins of bloody mind numbing scenes of jg pulling teeth with a hammer, chisel and axe, from the framers of the constitution. cristopher walkin would of course be john gibson in the movie.

Mr. Gibson,

I read your piece entitled "Protecting the President From Nuts" and I have to say that you have outdone yourself, Sir! Not only would you have Americans give up their right to free speech but you also want us to be taxed without representation! It's a nice little shit that you've taken on the Constitution there, Gibson, my man.

Bush is making these little jaunts at the public's expense. That's right. If you had bothered to research a bit, you would see that we the people are paying for George to run around the country trying to drum up support for Social Security reform. So, if I am paying for Bush to speak, then I have every right to be there and make my views heard. Otherwise, my taxes are going to someone who does not support me. Seems there was a war fought over something similiar. Hmm. Maybe you could Google that and find out.

As far as barring protestors simply because you don't like what they say, well, I have to remind you that it is their First Amendment right to protest as long as they are not violent or incite anyone to violence. Heckling and protesting the President is a proud American tradition. The fact that Bush and his team does whatever they can to stop any appearance of dissention is quite telling. John Kerry openly welcomed the small crowds of protestors that he received at his rallies. Bill Clinton still waded into crowds that weren't 100% in his favor.

Is Bush telling us that he is better than we are or that he is just afraid of the people?

Regardless, I do know how hard it is to defend the undefensable so I'll cut you some slack. Maybe when you are taking correspondence courses at the Jeff Gannon/Guckert School of Journalism, they'll teach you how to do some nifty things like "research."

15. Where to begin?
I am of the impression that Social Security affects everyone, not just Republicans. So it is not a continuation of his political campaign. And what does Dean have to do with anything?. He's not the President--yet. ;-)

This exalted status we have bestowed upon the Presidency is dangerous, IMO. He(and someday she)is just a citizen of this country no better than you or me. They are not appointed by divine providence. We started a revolution against such a practice over 200 years ago.

Good work, John!

Lets just call these events pep rallies and be done with it. To call them town hall meetings or to hang them with any name implying democracy is disingenuous at best.

The previews for tonight's episode of The Daily Show has a clip of Samantha Bee doing screening interviews for Town Hall Meetings.

Could be a great show.
