First, a recent e-mail I received from Richard Pombo (R-CA11):

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about recent allegations regarding House Majority Leader Tom Delay. I appreciate hearing from you.

I want to bring to light the truth about what is really happening. This is a highly coordinated attack, organized by liberal Democrats and their allies to stop the work of the House of Representatives. It is sad to say the liberals have become the party of no -- no ideas, no solutions and no agenda.

Because of their lack of any positive agenda for moving the Nation forward, they have turned to the last option they have left - making baseless ethics complaints about their fellow Members of Congress...(blah blah blah)

I a more positive note, I received an a phone call today from a local paper in the S.F Bay area asking me if they could publish my letter the the editor regarding Pombo, the Republicans, and the Bankruptcy Bill. Yah!

2. No I didn't. I don't watch any of the MSM at all; T.V. only rarely.

The way we counter this attack is putting Democratic ideas out there loud and clear. We can all help do that by writing letters to the editor, etc. in support of good Democratic Bills.

I have one such letter I am working on at the moment.

...that I expect something more than specious, boilerplate talking points from my representative.

6. Point out that he hasn't actually said anything.

Or, at any rate, if he has, the poster hasn't included it.

Make a list of specific allegations, with close attention to details and evidence, and ask him how many of them he can rebut, rather than simply saying "this attack is being lead by Democrats" (which, of course, it is, but that says nothing about its truth or falsity).,

"These allegations are being made by my political opponents" is not the same thing as "these allegations are not true".
