federal court rejected BUSH administration's that would have destroyed...
I am thrilled to report a momentous victory in our fight to protect Yellowstone/Greater Rockies BioGem.

A federal district court has just rejected the Bush administration's approval of a massive copper and silver mine that would have despoiled the Cabinet
Mountains Wilderness in northwestern Montana. (RIGHT NOW THE JUDGE'S ARE THE ONLY ONEs WITH ENOUGH BALLS TO STOP THE BUSH KLAN)

This landmark decision is the result of an all-out legal battle we waged in
partnership with Earthjustice and our other environmental allies. Last week the
court sided with us in ruling that the Rock Creek Mine would jeopardize the
survival of one of the last five grizzly bear populations in the lower 48
states, as well as threatened bull trout.

These grizzly bears have been driven from their historic range by clearcut
logging and rampant development, and have found their last refuge among the
soaring peaks and forested valleys of the Cabinet Mountains.

The Rock Creek Mine project would have allowed the Revett Silver Company to
tunnel 900 feet beneath the wilderness area, set off deafening explosions and
then extract 10,000 tons of copper and silver ore seven days a week for 35
years.

At the same time, the mining operation would have dumped three million gallons
of wastewater each day into the region's clear mountain rivers, where bull
trout spawn and rear their young. In approving this outrageous proposal, the
Bush administration demonstrated yet again its willingness to destroy our
public wildlands to please its industry allies.

Our court victory sends a clear message to the administration that we will not
surrender our last and greatest places without one heck of a fight. I want to
thank you again for taking online action to save the Yellowstone/Greater
Rockies region and the rest of our endangered BioGems.

2. Don't get too excited.
They already have their back-up attack in place and probably put it in motion the minute the court ruled against them. And you know, based on Alaska, that they will not stop.

They are relentless.. They are just so bent on destroying the land and whatever wildlife gets in their way. Unfortunately And with Alaska looking who's running it (Republican L.M and her gov. husband F.M. That's all that needs to be said!!!

4. Celebrate tonight with a shot of Chinaco Anejo, but.....
keep up the fight!

There are other avenues for these killer thugs.

Like repealing endangered species legislation:
"Endangered Species Restoration Act of 2005"

5. Great news for us
This is good news for us as we have a home on the Clark Fork River(down river from the proposed mine) and have been fighting this mine since it first started as ARCO. We live about 3 miles from where the Clark Fork River flows into Lake Pend Oreille. Sterling Mine Company purchased an interest in the Rock Creek Mine project and has now changed it's name to Revett Silver Company. Mark Racicot had his hand in this too.

Rock Creek Alliance released the good news on March 30, 2005: COURT REJECTS ROCK CREEK MINE http://tinyurl.com/bsytr

Here is a site for information of the pollution of the Clark Fork River
http://tinyurl.com/8y7gx

We love our river and lake but we know this isn't finished yet. We still have a lot more fighting to do to keep this mine from happening.
