Pitcairn sex case appeal begins
BBC

Six men found guilty of sexual abuse of young girls on a remote UK territory in the South Pacific have begun an appeal against their convictions.

The men, from Pitcairn - where fewer than 50 people live - claim they had not realised English law applied there.

But prosecutors at a special hearing in New Zealand said it was extraordinary that the men thought they were living in a land of criminal immunity.

Four men were jailed and two others given non-custodial sentences in 2004.

1. That island was never meant to be inhabited

If it wasn't for the mutiny, I highly doubt anyone would live there.

I'm not sure how anyone can still live here, this place is so remote there isn't even airport or any other modern convienences. If I had children I would have moved from that island ages ago in order to give my kids a chance.
