November 2008: The Democrats Lose
by Margaret Kimberley

On Wednesday, November 5, 2008, newspaper headlines will tell us that the Republican presidential candidate has defeated the Democrat. It is generally ill advised to make predictions about an electoral outcome, especially three years in advance. It is less dangerous to do so where the Democratic Party is concerned.

The winner may be Jeb Bush, or it may be Arnold Schwarzenegger. Don’t worry about who the Republican victor will be. Just know that the Democratic Party is once again on the road to Loserville.

Amazingly, the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) still holds sway. Despite the fact that their strategy has kept the House of Representatives in Republican hands for the last ten years, despite the loss of the Senate and two presidential elections, they are still a force to be reckoned with.

Most losers eventually figure out that they should just shut up and disappear, but not our friends at the DLC. They keep on talking, under the bizarre premise that if they just keep doing what they have been doing they will get a different result. Yes, that is a definition of insanity.

4. I'll second that
If I were conspiracy minded, I would figure that the DLC was a "special team" sent in to move the party (and the country as a whole) rightward. :tinfoilhat:

3. Wow. Very powerful. Although it was phrased as a prediction...
... I think it was intended as a wake-up call.

Let's hope it serves that purpose, because with the Al Froms of the world pulling the rug out from under us at every opportunity, we are headed for extinction.

Maybe Dr. Dean can sue the DLC for trademark violation, and get them to drop "Democratic" from the name of their GOP-lovin' little group! :D

5. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: The DLC is a cancer.
And you don't compromise with cancer. You cut it out, or you die. And there is no disputing the malignant effect of the DLC on this party in the last decade.

7. I have always wondered if
Karl Rove is behind the DLC.

It would be a perfect cover for him to use to infiltrate and destroy the Democratic party from within:scared:

8. Thank you for posting. I feel better when I see someone else
posting the same message. I do not understand how the DLC keeps the power, and why other democrats do not call them down when they do or say something divisive.

9. It's not the DLC; it's the electronic voting machines.
The DLC is just unable to come to grips with the facts. What they're doing is irrelevant. It's not hurting Dems, and it's not helping a lot either. It's just flat irrelevant.

Get the vote counting straight and the Dems will win just about every election that's contested in the country.

10. ouch.
That was one very perceptive and cutting piece.

Even if the writer did rag on Kerry a bit too much for my tastes. I’ll get over it tho.
