Chairman Dean to speak tomorrow at Steelworkers Union merger
More than 5,000 delegates of the newly merged United Steelworkers (USW) will meet in tomorrow's historic merger convention, beginning at 8:30 am (PDT) at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Convention Center.

USW President Leo W. Gerard and Executive Vice President Boyd Young will welcome the delegates and guests for tomorrow's day- long event, following the PACE International Union's special convention.

Howard Dean, chair of the Democratic National Committee; AFL- CIO President John Sweeney; and Richard Gephardt, former Speaker for the U.S. House of Representatives are speaking during the morning session.

The USW convention is open to news photographers, TV cameras and correspondents who register at the USW's press office in the Hilton's Pavilion No. 4, adjacent to the hotel's conference center, or by calling the office at: 702-892-3491.

The merger between the two unions is being celebrated at a cookout outside the Las Vegas Hilton Conference Center's North Parking Lot tonight at 6:30 pm (PDT) by the combined 5,000 delegates of the merged unions.

2. Oh, I love this
The Democratic Party has some serious work to do with America's labor unions. I LOVE the image in my mind of my guy connecting again with and speaking to labor at this event. Powerful.
