A favor to ask of fellow red staters
from a Navy Veteran. When it comes to dealing with conservatives, I'm an asshole (by design.) For the umpeenth month in a row, the Army has missed its recruiting goals and I can't figure it out. Red states are chock full of ass kicking, rag head hating, flag waving murkens who apparently don't know where the Army Recruiting Offices are. If you could take a little time and assist our fellow Americans in their efforts to "support" the troops by becoming one, this veteran would be greatly appreciative. My communications skills fail me when chatting with such Americans. I tend to get loud and belligerent and fail to reach my goals. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated by me and donald rumsfeld.

1. Why won't the young man w the "W Sticker" on his weight belt at my gym
enlist? Perhaps he is trying to build more muscle before he goes.

6. I have one like that at my gym.
He wears his 'W the President' tee shirt. And I am thinking, wow you are young and healthy. Why don't you enlist, show your true patriotism.

On a more sober note, I have a young acquaintance, a conservative christian wingnut repug, who did enlist. Marines. He is at training camp and will ship out to one of the hottest spots in Iraq next month. Hey, at least he walks the walk, unlike a few college republicans I could name. But he may pay with his life.

13. see?!
while idealogically opposed to your Marine friend, I applaud his consistancy and I admire his resolve. If more arm-chair patriots would put their ass behind their mouths, I'd have a lot more respect for them, even as I disagree with them.

2. heh-heh. In my state, you wouldn't know there was an election. No
one talks about things like that anymore. Its like we never had one. We are intensely military up here with bases and all but no one is joining that I've heard of.

7. they're all full of shit and the bigger the vehicle the higher the hair
the closer to god and all that - these lilly livered bastards are homicidal behind the wheel of their bestickered hummers and expeditions and suburbans, pretty bold on freeperublic, but when they crawl down out of their trucks onto the street and step outside away from their keyboards, they're pretty damn skeered of their own shadow. They're not patriotic because they believe in it, they're just patriotic because claiming to be gives them membership in a big group of righteous bastard Americans, and therefore gives them a sense of power.

Can you imagine if they might actually have to step up and defend our country themselves? They'd be the first people showing up with inoperable boils on their butts to dodge the draft.

8. Thank you My Fellow American
They are quite ballsy when in a large group of their own. I got into a relatively small tiff with a huge motherfucker in a bar one afternoon about Iraq. We didn't know each other but he was about as mouthy as me. After yacking at each other for awhile, he said, I played football for XYZ. I said I served in a combat zone. Checkmate. He left.

10. Beautiful
Although if they are so patriotic why the need to draft them? Other Priorities? Anal Cysts? Too many minorities in line?

My father in law lied about his age to get into WWII. He suffered severed injuries during the D-Day Invasion. He lived a long and prosperous life and passed away last year. He would not muster up a thimble full of warm spit for a republican. God Bless Him.

11. Pick up a bunch of business cards from your local Army recruiter
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 03:42 PM by CottonBear
While you're at it, get some from the Marines too. Then, hand 'em out to any young (up to age 37?) RW loudmouth, chickenhawk that you might encounter. Then, walk away.

I've printed out US Armed Services recruiting forms that I keep handy for easy distribution. The business cards are excellent for putting under the windshield wipers of young frat boys' "W" sticker covered SUVs in my southern college town.

BTW, my azaleas are leafing out with new foliage. I can't wait until they bloom in late May!

edit: One of my co-workers is a Navy veterna too! He was on a nuclear submarine.

Thanks for doing your time in the Navy and serving our country!

And I have a pile of enlistment forms both in my briefcase and at home for any dumbass who wants to support the troops by relieving them.
