Why I think confirming Bolton was a good idea
Bolton's performance will be judged not just by the partisan Republican congress, but by the third-party of The United Nations and the international community.

It's like the HAL 9000 suggested in 2001: A Space Odyssey, "I suggest we put the unit back in place and wait for it to fail."

Let's send this maniac to The United Nations and let the rest of the world show us just what an insane failure he is.

I can think of no better way to discredit him-- and by extension Bush and the GOP-- than by allowing him to have the job and then waiting for him to fail.

I only hope the whole General Assembly boo's and hisses the first time (or every time) he walks onto the floor.

Or better still, if they all walk out of the chamber.

1. except his failure could mean war
Do you want world war 3?

Or how about this: all the nations we owe money to suddenly recalling all of the debt? Then we would be really screwed.

I see what you mean, but I'm not willing to give up the fight just yet. Check out my blog, I've posted links to everyone on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Write to them even if you feel it's a waste of time. We have to at least try.

2. the world has experienced far to much our arrogance to let Bolton
get this nomination. Good grief-put him back in the woodword and maybe the termites will have a feast on his mushtash

3. I think writing the UN is a better idea than writing Congress
Let the world know that Bolton does not speak for us.

I think it unlikely that Bolton will start WWIII.

I think it is more likely that Bush is already deliberately trying to start WWIII as part of his Dominionist plan to start The War of the Apocalypse.

Bush thinks he is The Antichrist, and all his policies fall nicely into place with that theory. It both explains past actions and predicts his future actions as well.

5. Allowing Bolton to fall on his face could be one more blow to the GOP
I left a message for Senators Boxer and Kerry suggesting they might use my idea as a talking point.

To at least make the point that allowing Bolton's confirmation will show the world-- and America-- what a stupid, awful failure he is, and how insane the GOP really is for appointing him.

I still hope he's not confirmed (or am I too late? I was out at a movie) but I think the "let him fail" meme might be an effective message.

6. Judging by the way things work in this administration ...
If he fails he'll wind up succeeding Condi as Sec. State.

7. If it's not Bolton
it'll just be another from the group. My pick would be Ledeen. He's the craziest one of the bunch.
