Anybody else think DeLay's troubles will give some Repubs some spine
to stand up against this embarrassment of human being? FOX continually spins on behalf of DeLay and I hope when it is all over they lose credibility with their own followers. Any Dem by now would have been censured and asked to step down. I hope the folks who KNOW that DeLay is a lying bag of shit have enough money and nerve to speak up but I won't hold my breath.

1. I hope all Republicans stand by DeLay.
I hope he is still around when 2006 midterms are here. Then we'll see what the American people think of Republican ethics and their agenda.

2. One can only hope. Let's see what Lincoln Chaffee does.

Let us hope that he will be the Joseph Welch of our decade.

Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

EDIT: I wonder how badit would be for the Democrats if there was a schism in the Republican party along the lines that occurred in the Democratic party at the time of the "Dixiecrats" when a lot of the Democrats joined the Republican party. If that did happen, perhaps a lot of Moderate Republicans would either jump ship, or vote with Democrats.

3. I wouldn't call it spine.
Bullies don't do spine, and this is one of the more remarkable collections of bullies ever brought together under any umbrella.

Luckily and despite our worst fears, it seems that our political system is working as intended. Almost in spite of itself.

There is a real possibility that all the aggression we see from the frothing religious right is due to the fact that they recognize there is a real and growing potential for them to lose their #1 bully boy in congress. It could be that they know that if he goes, there is no other person there that can effectively take over DeLay's cheap and shoddy machine politics and use it for their benefit.

Both politicians and pundits.

5. Delay will fight ouster
Delay is not a team player and will fight ouster even if this means that the GOP will be split.

6. I hope he does. Hubris will eventually bring them down
but if they move him out of Cong. quickly, it will slow down the larger self-destruction.
